Anejo Advice

I've never tried an Anejo before, but based on people's reviews it sounds like I sure ought to try one! My local shop, as I've reported before, has a VERY limited selection of cigars (and that's putting it nicely). They never have Anejos, Padrons, Tatuajes, Opus, VSG's or any sought after cigars, except on ultra rare occasions.

For those of you guys with more experience with these (and buying them), would you snatch up some #49's if you could get them for 11 bucks? Since I've never tried one and also not knowing what the going rate is on these (except what the MSRP is - which probably doesn't mean much since they are rare), I'm looking for a little advice as to whether you would recommend trying one of these or if another Anejo might be a better choice.

I think you are on good ground with the $11 #49. They're great cigars in any vitola, but the most sought after seem to be the #55s and #77s.

That said, find a new smoke shop!

48's and 49's are my favorites from the line. Consider yourself lucky to be able to buy them; my local B&M occasionally gets Opies in but says they haven't seen Anejos in over a year....

Retail on the 49's are $8.75. Up to you if it's worth it or not....

Regards - B.B.S.

11 bucks is not bad, if that's with taxes included. If you add the Illinois tax to that, it'll be a bit pricey...

But then again, I've seen 'em in places for between $25 and 50 - so I guess it's all relative...

As far as recommending trying them? I personally like 'em better than the Opus'. A bit sweeter and more pleasant to me...

it all boils down to what you're willing to pay!

I had feeding the gougers, but on occasion I'll pay a little more than MSRP to get the 'good stuff' (55's and 77's).

(But then I horde them and savor every last little smoke from them!)

Thanks guys - by the way I probably wasn't clear, it isn't my local shop that has these. I've never seen such a sight in that shop in the two years that I've lived in this town. This is actually coming from a guy not on this board, so there wouldn't be any tax.

After buying a bunch of Tatuajes lately, my funds are low, so I may have to pass on this one for now but then again, I may feel differently tonight after a couple of brews. ;)
