well gents, right now i am sitting out on one of 4 decks, smoking a PSD#4, a glenleviet and my lovely wife are at my side. life is good, blue skies and 82 deg, low humidity. after a 14 hr. drive the payoff is well worth it. we have about a 500ft walk to the beach, inground pool, and 7000 square ft. of house to relax in...oh did i mention the jacuzzi? we rented this place with 8 of our friends and i am relaxed as all heck. after the past weeks it is well deserved. my wife commented, "are you going to smoke those things all week?" i replied," hell ya!" she said "well, did you bring any for me?" ah, yes dear, here ya go.....life is good.
take care all, hope your week is going to be as good as mine.

LUCKY

What town are you in? I've vacationed down there a few times. Twice in Duck and once in Rodanthe on Hatteras Island.

13 hour drive for me. We found that going through Delaware on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel cut the trip by 100 miles instead of going through DC and Fredericksburg (UGH).

Woooooooow. Sounds like a fabulous time, Rob.

Enjoy the hell out of it. Sounds like you're off to a good start. ;)

Wilkey

Rob enjoy your vacation with your wife! Good way to relax, nothing like the beach!

Enjoy your vacation...
I will be there next week and am really looking forward to it.
We try and get down to the Outer Banks every year.
It is a great place to relax and get away from the crowds.

we did the same bill, we are in salvo, about 25mi north of hatteras lighthouse on rt12.

calix, the vsg beli is now on tap...thanks again bro, and thanks to all of you for the well wishes.

WOW!! :0 You drove right through Rodanthe to get to Salvo. Rodanthe, Waves & Salvo are out in the middle of NOWHERE. The closest grocery store is in Avon which is a half an hour from Rodanthe when I stayed there. The place in Rodanthe was right on the ocean!

My only problem with clubs and restaurants on Hatteras Island is they only serve beer and wine, no hard liquor. :( We had to drive back north where all the "action" is for that!

There's a great martini bar/restaurant in KittyHawk called Ocean Boulevard.

We also ate at Windmill Point Restaurant which is pretty cool since the inside is decorated with pieces from the SS United States, a cruise ship that was launched in 1952. I had a lighter from there that I just lost last week. :(

ya, the hard liquor store is at mile post 10, the scotch i bought was only 35 bucks for 12yr glenlivet, and that bottle is almost gone!
well, make another trip tonight to re-stock.

Have a good time Rob, I will also echo the Windmill point, and Miller's family restaraunt right nearby.

My impression of the Outer Banks is it's very "family" oriented with lots of things for kids to do and most of the restaurants are family-style, buffets, etc. which really aren't my preference. Ocean Boulevard is a "grown-up" style that's great for you and the wife. You can bring the kids but they'd find it B O R I N G... It's kinda pricey which is okay for me, I like higher end restaurants and I haven't found anything better on the OBX than Ocean Boulevard!

Get there when they first open at 5:00, sit at the bar and the bartenders will usually let you sample all different kinds of martinis which is their specialty.

I bought one of their tee shirts which I wear quite often.

MAN, I love that place!
