I smoked the Kuba Kuba last weekend during poker, but let me preface it w/ a few others I smoked first.

Opus Robusto ('04): Great construction, prelight draw was fine. Lit up the Opus and was amazed at the difference 2 years make. Great flavor without that in your face Opus buzz. I'd rate it an 8.

Trinidad Fundadore (98): The wrapper on this one had some issues and started to unravel. I did some surgery and at the foot, it looked like a BTL. Clipped the cap and the draw was perfect. Lit this up and was surprised how smooth and creamy this cigar was. A few nutty/vanilla hints. Excellent cigar, too bad it was my last one. Solid 9.

Davidoff 100th Diadema Fina : Perfectly constructed cigar, no visable flaws. Clipped the perfecto shaped cap and the draw was perfectly open. Lit this one and was surprised how mild this one was. Reminded me of the AVO 22; creamy, smooth and incredibly easy to smoke. If you haven't had one, I'd suggest getting a few. Solid 9.

At this point I had smoked 3 solid cigars and looked for the Kuba Kuba in my pelican case. Pulled the Kuba out and immediately noticed how "stained" the cello was. I didn't have a camera at the poker game, but did take a few pictures once I got home.

Below are 2 pics of the Kuba Kuba cello compared to the Opus cello:

Kuba Kuba : I pulled the cigar out and noticed right away how stained the cello looked. Pretty sure it's from the infusing they do, b/c I doubt Norcal would have aged this beauty :sign: The cigar was constructed nicely and firm to the touch. I had a few guys ask me what it was b/c they could smell the infusion once I pulled the cello off. To me it smelled patchouli, sorta like putting your face right into the arm pit of that "granola" chick we all knew in college. It was strong, to say the least. I clipped the cap and took a pre-light draw and almost threw up from the strong "essence" of patchouli/potpourri. I was able to choke back down my vomit and toasted the foot of this beauty. A few comments from around the table once I put flame to the foot: What the hell are you smoking? Is that a christmas tree you're smoking? Damn that stinks! Man, that thing reminds me of the Avon perfume my grandmother used to wear! Composing myself, I took the first draw and was surprised at how "sugary" this thing tasted. It honestly reminded me of putting a spoonful of sugar in your mouth. It was horrible. I've read numerous reviews online where many many people liked these. I have no idea why I didn't enjoy it  A few of the guys around the table wanted to try it as well, so I took an exacto knife and performed surgery 3 seperate times, cutting the cap off so the next guy wouldn't have to endure this cigar while also having the mental picture of kissing the previous guy. Each one of the "testers" had the same reaction I did. Nobody enjoyed this cigar. After it was laid to rest in the Stinky ashtray (rather fitting name w/ this cigar) it over powered any other cigars smoke that was wafting around the garage. We even tried burning the cedar sleeve from a few Anejos and that didn't help either. I'll give this a solid 1.

There should be some kind of decoration for gallantry for enduring the unendurable. Why anyone would want to smoke a cigar that tastes and smells like a hippie chick from the '60s is beyond me.

Doc

Acids taste like crap? Who would have guessed  . Had a Waffe at the Drew Estate event at Outlaw a few weeks back. Smells like something one would use to cover up bong smoke. It is so obvious that these are nasty, but after smoking one you really wonder how they keep selling so freakin' many of them.

   ..... now if we would only hear from the other BOTL's who were fortunate enough to receive one of these beauties from yours truly, AVB? Swissy? Boonedoggle? Atuck?. These reviews are well worth it!

BTW, that beauty was aged for at least three years :sign:

Edit: spelling .. DOH!

All I know is Tony sent mine out a few days ago... and this is one time I won't mind customs confiscating my cigars :sign:

But I should be so lucky... I'm quite sure they will be arriving safe and sound end of next week middle of next.

Wilkey I was looking at the fine selections of cigars we have to try...

Lets say we start with the "Nasty".

"Stupid is as Stupid does!"

Sounds good to me. I mean, how bad could it be?

Alrighty, Shawn. I'll smoke a few good cigars in the time that I have left. :D

Great review, can't wait to try one of these!

Sorry Boss... Mary begged for a real cigar after taking a whiff of one of them. She enjoyed her PAM, so I figured we no longer needed the flavored collection I had amassed for her. I send them along to a BOTL with a fine nose for reviews.

Wilkey? you find the big bag o' flavored in amongst the fish? It would be the foul smelling bag...

When I tried one it tasted like a tootsie roll wrapped in cloves too me...never again!

Yep. I found em. :p

I smoked an Eileen's Dream while changing out my brake rotors and it was ok, but was very, very nasty if you let it go out and then relight. I also tried a havan Honeys and it had a strange bitter flavor. Been chewing on the Moontrance cigarillos as I work in the basement and I find that I really like the flavor of these things. Well, it's a better aroma than musty basement. :D

Say what? I didn't get one. If you sent it and it doesn't get here tomorrow it'll sit in the Post Office for the next 12 days.

How could I pass up a solid 1? 1 is the best

Ahhhhh, my bad, you did send me one and I stashed in my dog rocket box and then blanked it from my mind.. Remind me when I get back from the cruise as I'm not going to spoil my vacation by starting with a Kuba Kuba. :0

Thanks for the review.. I keep seeing those and how well they are supposedly selling.. and now I really know that I don’t want them and that it must be true that only the stoners are buying them since it looks like they are marketed towards that crowd.
