I suggest you buy this

As most of you know I'm not really a wine guy. While my wife likes it she isn't as knowledgeable as some here. In any case, we picked up 2 bottles of this eariler in the year and the both of us plus our guests (who are serious wine drinkers) thought it was fantastic. The price was $28 a bottle on sale from $42 I believe.

In my wanderings I found it again here for only $18 a bottle. We ordered 6 (only $18 shipping) which is something we've never done and our friends say they are going to get at least 6 too. I really think you'll like this if you try it.

Syrah is okay but kind of on the light side for me. I prefer Cabernet Sauvignon and blends that are mostly Cabernet Sauvignon.

Another nice wine in this initila-blend vein is Santa barbara Winery's ZCS - Zinfandel Carignan and Syrah.

Coventrycat - If you think Syrah is "kind of on the light side" you have been drinking the wrong Syrahs.

Syrah similar to merlot, can be anywhere from really bad to pretty good as a verital but when blended with other grapes (as the one that AVB mentioned here) can indeed make for a complex and interesting wine. While I've never tried the one that AVB mentioned, further research on my part leads me to believe that I would very much enjoy this wine more than I first though so I'm glad he posted here about it. :thumbs:

Syrahs are almost always generally lighter than Cabernet Sauvignon which I'm sure a "wine guy" like you already knows.

What is it with you fna, are looking to start some kind of a fight or something? ??? It' definitely a pattern with quite a few of your entire 32 some odd posts here since you joined last week.........
