Where do you guys purchase your computer supplies at? I'm going to build a PC. Looking at getting a clear acrylic case w/ neon, UV reactive cables, etc...

Any PC modders out there who can suggest some good places to get quality yet cheap parts?

Here's what I found so far:
frozencpu.com
http://www.xpcgear.com/
tigerdirect.com
newegg.com

Thanks BBS.

AVB - Not sure about the water cooling, still thinking about that...

X2 on BBS. Can't go wrong with newegg. I get alot of my comp stuff from them as well. Please stay away from tigerdirect. Nothing but headaches from them in my experience.

Another newegg vote here. I've dealt with them for a few years now and have been nothing but satisfied. Tigerdirect is nothing but trouble in my experience...

Good luck to you! I tried the water-cooling about 3 years ago. I'm sure things have improved greatly since then, but I hope that you have better luck than I did if you go that route.

STAY AWAY FROM TIGER DIRECT!!!!!!!

SERVICE SUCKS!!!!!

TURNED OVER STATEMENTS AND SHIPPING RECEIPTS TO MASTERCARD AND LETTING THEM GET CREDITED FROM TIGER DIRECT.

ordered most of my stuff from NewEgg with a couple of parts from ZipZoomFly. But most definitely look at NewEgg.com

Once You know You NewEgg. Years of great service and great products. Top notch, get everything you can from them, definately worth it.

They are great for cases (the acrylic is pretty inexpensive, my friend bought one from there) and power supplies. I would shop around for HDD's, memory, controlers...they aren't exactly the cheapest for those.

In case nobody mentions it, NewEgg.

I guess Tiger Direct went downhill recently. I purchased a motherboard and some other parts from them a few years ago, and things went great.

Every so often, a buddy will catch me in a weakened state (or bribe me) and I'll embark on building a "pretty" PC. Here are pics of the last two I've done....lots of hours but they look pretty cool when you are finished:

On the bottom machine, we replaced every LED on the front panel with UV LED's and the switch panel I built uses UV LED's as well.

Both are very nice performing computers as well; 3.4GHZ P4 machines with nVidia 6800GT video cards and a gig of Crucial Ballistix RAM, dual Hitachi SATA hard drives, etc..."old school" parts, now a year later....

...sorry for the image quality; the UV / Blue LED's just drive my little Nikon digital crazy.

Cheers - B.B.S.

Fry's Electronic stores are pretty good if you have one near you. I got a lot of parts for my current puter there. Newegg is good too, but I like Fry's because it is easy to return stuff or get additional parts without having to go through the mail.

if your still looking i can save you about 18% on the online prices from www.tigerdirect.com. You just send me the link of the parts you want and I can confirm MY costs and pass on the free shipping to you.

let me know

we can do a paypal or check deal for repayment.
