Car ashtray?

Looking for a cigar ashtray for the car that can fit into a rectangular space (~2"x4"). I don't have a cup holder and I'd rather not hang one from the door. I try to flick the ash out the window but that doens't work too well.

Anyone ever see one that has a rectangular bottom?

When did they stop putting ashtrays in cars? ???

All of my cars have ashtrays. Now don't jump on me because the newest car I own is a 1992. :0

Hell, I still have two vehicles that could run on regular gas (the gas tank filler accepts the larger diameter filler hose for leaded gasoline) and a majority of my vehicles don't have the third brake light that was required in the US as of 1986.

Using the window can be tricky, but if you do it right it works fine. Try flicking with your cigar in the deadspace your side mirror will create. There is a pocket of air behind the mirror where there is very little to no wind. Sometimes some of the ash sticks so when that happens, if I'm moving fairly fast I just hold my cigar in the wind for a brief moment and that knocks off the rest.

No ashtray, no lighter, no cupholder. I guess they wanted drivers to focus on driving. :0

Half the time when I try and flick out the window, the ash comes back into the car. And, my side view mirror doesn't provide enough air blockage because it;s oval and small.

cc - do you have lapbelts in your cars as well :p

OMG, that was that long ago! I remember buying an aftermarket third brake light to put into a Ford EXP I had right out of high school.

Back on topic, I ash out the window too, and it's no problem. I never have to "flick" the ash, just touch it to the window and it breaks off fine.

My 2006 Ford Fusion - ashtray wasn't even an option. It has no ligher either, but three "lighter" plugins.

No ashtrays? Where is everyone putting their change?

Car ashtrays are for cigarette smokers, use the window.

The whining corporate "if it'll save just one life" pussies strike again. Ford replaced what would have been the ashtry with a pocket. Its about 2" by 6" and about 4" deep. There are two lighter plugs down there. The change goes in, but you need something like a mechanic's part grabber to get any back out. It has a pretty typical glove box. They put a pocket with a latched lid, top middle of the dashboard. I call it the lunchbox and it'll hold about 2 Playboy magazines :whistling: .

My 01 has a ashtray and lighter, but I won't ever use it. I don't want that smell in my car and then I have to clean it out.

 to the suggestion of using the dead air flow your miror creates. Or hell, just get a sunroof. :D

Not even an option? THere was no "smokers' package?" Wow. Things really have gotten out of hand.

If you have a wife, tell her you want to spend some time with her and go on a nice drive. Once your driving, have her hold your stinky, yes, I mean your ashtray, and light up!!

Vioala, problem solved.

Let me know how it works out. As of yet, I am scared to try it! ???

I never use my ashtray either. Everything goes out the window. I'm such a litterbug.

Before I toss it I let my cigar go out, and I make sure I'm a good distance away from the car behind me.

Try flick it at the lowest front part of the window, behind your side mirror. The mirror usually blocks enough wind to make it easier.

Hope this helps

Anyone got a miiror like this:

Instead of blocking, I think it sucks the ash back into the car :(

Thanks for the advice but I've tried it all except the wife idea but I don't want her in my car anyway :)

The stealer wants $50 for an ashtray so maybe I will try and make something.
