I have recently discovered that eating very spicy foods (chili peppers) before smoking completely destroys my palate.
This sucks because I love spicy stuff!
Anyone have similar experiences?
With other types of food or beverages?

Putting out a cigar on my tongue really jacks with my palate.

33yrs of smoking 2pks of Camel straights a day.

Doc.

Toothpaste.

Try Marvis toothpaste, I think that the Marvis stuff actually refreshes my buds in between cigars.

Although I don't know what the hell Marvis is, I agree that brushing my teeth helps refresh my taste buds.

I often don't have a very good smoking experience after eating pizza which is unfortunate because I make a lot of pizza.

A cold destroys mine. When I have a cold I don't smoke many cigars. I can't taste any flavors, so it feels like a waste of a cigar.

I find that milk kind of kills my tasting abilities for a short time after drinking it.

I don't smoke much in the winter because the air is so dry. I have sinus problems that get almost unbearable in the winter. Oddly enough, cigar smoking doesn't irritate the condition, but I can't taste anything very well, so I don't smoke (or try many new foods, drinks, etc.).

Still working on the wife about moving to milder climates...

Nasal decongestants like pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine. These open me up but ompletely wipe out my ability to detect flavors nasally. Strangely, nasal sprays don't have this effect.

My palate does not seem to be strongly affected by foods, except perhaps for curries.
