Just got "The Departed" on DVD. Awesome movie...!! Hope Martin S. gets the award for "best picture" or "best director" for this effort.....good flick.

Very cool to hear Dropkick Murphy's music prominently featured. Been getting more and more into them since CC turned me onto them. Great stuff....

Cheers - B.B.S.

Dropkick Murphys have been talking a lot about their song "Shipping up to Boston" (on their website, in mass emails, press releases, etc.) which is featured in that movie.

I'm actually not a huge fan of that particular song BUT I think it's great they've gotten quite a bit of exposure from "The Departed."

I'm going to see them three times in March (Allentown, PA on 3/12, a special show at Harpers Ferry in Allston, MA on St. Patrick's Day that very few people know about and at the Avalon in Boston on 3/18) and I just saw them at UCONN two weeks ago.

One can NEVER see the Dropkick Murphys too many times because EVERY show has a different set list.

Is that the song that plays on the DVD menu and also plays during the movie when they are going to the last score?

Sounds pretty cool, if that's it. I'm a huge fan of the departed, and agree, it deserves tons of awards.

Excellent!! I had thought about trying to get tickets for that but since I already had tickets for Sunday night and Saturday afternoon (which I ended up giving back to my friend because I got the Saturday night tickets) we didn't try and get the Sunday morning show in Dorchester. :( I'll bet that will be lots of fun.

We saw a charity fundraiser show at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston last September where they played an acousitic set (about nine or 10 songs) and raised money via auctions for a firefighter's fund. We bid up some of the items but didn't win anything. They were auctioning off things like backstages passes for four including hot dogs with James Lynch, an hour of Scruffy Wallace coming to play bagpipes anywhere you wanted him to, etc.

I'll let you know how the accoustic set was.You going to make it to the NERF?

Nah, I'm going to see The Fools that night in Maynard.

Sure, at least let us know how long the DKMs play. Or, you could be anal like me and write down all the songs they do during the show so you don't forget! I started a DKM thread last year where I listed the set lists for the shows I went to. I've got some updating to do... :whistling: Their usual shows are 27 to 28 songs and run about an hour and a half but a smaller show like that will probably be about ten songs or so. You'll hear "Shipping up to Boston," "Captain Kelly's Kitchen," "Skinhead on the MBTA," "Kiss Me I'm Shitfaced," "Finnegan's Wake," "Boys on the Docks" and at least four others!

They've been doing "Rocky Road to Dublin" quite a bit lately. Last time I saw them, they elevated that one to the encore. :0 I LOVE that song!

If you like "The Departed" check out the original movie "Infernal Affairs". You can buy it at Amazon. You got to read subtitles though. I like the original movie better, but I did see the original first.

I am going to see DKM on friday at the house of blues. Aldo playing with them is Sick Of it All (best damn hardcore band in the world). The Aggrolites (reggae/ska band featuring memebrs of Lost City Angels). And The Deadly Sins...which feature the girl whos sings on Blackout on vocals, she lives here and the whole show should go off!!!!

If they do not play 10 years of service I will kill someone.

They won't do "Ten Years of Service" sorry to dissapoint you... :(

You're lucky that Stephanie Dougherty is with The Deadly Sins at the show you're seeing because that means she'll join DKM and they'll do "Dirty Glass"

I've seen Sick Of It All once before but I wasn't too impressed, probably because the sound was so bad at the venue....

Well with so much chat about thses guys, there are playing in cinci I might have to check em out. By the way BB king is playing in Da'Ville March 24th if your interested pick up some tickets and come hang out. You won't be dissapointed

The lead singer from Sick Of It All has serious back problems and they've cancelled their west coast shows including the show in Las Vegas therefore they won't be with the Dropkick Murphys on March 2nd.

I watched The Daprted the day it came out and loved the movie and the music. Now I need your help.

What is a good DKM album to start out with?

I was thinking the same thing, I went to napster.com and you can listen to streaming music for free, they have all the DKM stuff so you can figure out what cd you like the best.

I have to say there heavier rock sounding then I expected.
