I'm looking to grab a bundle and I'm wondering what everyone thinks is a better cigar and better buy. I have seen that a lot of guys recommend the Consuegras. Problem is, I can't seem to find any around here. I do have a couple of the Alcazars and Flor de Olivas (both maduros), but I've only tried the Flor de Oliva thus far. I wasn't all that impressed, but it was only $1.50. I've also thought about 5 Vegas and Indian Tabac. What are your thoughts... which is the best of the group for this price range?

As for my tastes, I'm usually smoking a maduro robusto. My "good" cigars are the Padron 2K maddies and misc. Fuentes, and probably my favorite ever smoked is the JDN Gran Consul. I've promised myself to try better sticks this year (like maybe a short story or WOAM). The three shops closest to me are pretty lean on their Fuente selection right now though, and I'm feeling the urge to fill up this coolidor soon!

PM me your addy, I'll send you some 5 Vegas and IT. Chances are, you won't be able to find any connies in a local B&M, mainly because they can be had for such a low cost, and most B&M would rather stock up on higher end sticks due to space restriction. Cigarbid has many of these bundle sticks for a low cost, JR's and Mike's has connies. Never had a Flor de Oliva. In terms of taste, it's going to be a toss up between connies and Padron 2000 maddies. These two have full flavor at such a lower cost. Bundlewise, the connies are the best bet, roughly averaging out at around $0.80 per stick.

If you really want a taste of connies but don't mind spending a bit more, go out and buy some similar Villazon products, such as Punch, Hoyo de Monterrey, Excalibur, and ERDM. Punch rothschild/champion are the best value for the buck imo.

Here is a connie conversion table so you can compare which consuegra is a deviation of which Villazon cigar.

Wow, helluvan answer, Dave. And a very nice gesture to boot.

I have bought both Connies and Flor de Oliva's, and I prefer the FdO, but that's just my taste.

I know that with Connies, you may get any one of 4 or 5 different brands. I've had some that were great smokes, and some that weren't so great. It's possible the FdO are from several different brands too, but I have just had better luck with 'em so far.

There are so many good bundles it's hard to know where to begin.

www.tampasweetheart.com The #50 maduro ($26)is sweet with good construction. Age well, too.

At the same site you can get Flor de Ybor City. A bit more money but a superior bundle stick.

Rocky Patel Sungrown Selects. On auction, about $40 for the torps.

Trilogy Tri-Press One of my favorites! All less than $40 at cbid. I like the exotic maduro best.

La Unica These are high quality bundles at higher prices. About $60

Oliveros Grand and Pirate's Gold are two very low cost(less than $20) bundles that are good values.

I will smoke all of these and have many in stock. You can't go wrong as they age and get better. I mean, what are you risking? Right? Mostly storage space!

Just yesterday I picked up two Connie #9 M's ($1.25 ea) and two Connie #14 M's ($2.00 ea) at JR's in Manhattan. I haven't smoked any Connies yet and am anxious to try these after I let them sit for a bit.

Oh yeah... I did pick up a "sure thing" while there, two Partagas Black Bravos ($5.75 ea).
