Ok, so the last three ISOM i've had have all had tight draws. I enjoyed them, yet it was alot of work that I would love to just bypass. They've been stored for atleast 3-6 mo at 57-60% RH / 65*. Is there something I'm doing wrong or am i just getting duds? Also, does anyone use a draw poker? I tried to poke a hole with a thin skewer towards the end of one of these and the draw ended up being too loose. Almost so much that it would burn hot with a small 'sip.'

I've used a draw poker on occasion and it seems to work rather well. Good tool to have on hand.

I've had the same problem with a fair number of the tubed ISOM varieties. That was three years ago, and apparently a fairly common concern.

yea, its a pain and could become expensive depending on what you're smoking. :( Most of my NCs are perfect, but the ISOMS aren't.

I love the draw poker on a number of occassions. It works great, but I must attest that the hot smoke does seem to be a bit of a problem if you jab it all the way through. I've found that if you insert it small increments first, then test by puffing on the gar, you'll find the amount of boring to suit your needs.

I once had a RyJ Cedros #3 that was so friggin petrified (no lie!) I thought it was dowling that was painted to look like a cigar. It was THAT hard to smoke. Tightly rolled is an understatement! I put a draw poker through that thing at least 5 times and it didn't help, at all!

We the 3 from the same box or 3 different cigars?

Certain years and certain vitolas are notorious for being plugged.

Dry "dry boxing" them for a couple of days (eg in a humidor with no humidification) prior to smoking, this sometimes helps draw problems a lot.

Hope this helps

Sometimes when this happens to me I wait until the cigar is good and warm. Then I gently squeeze and roll the cigar back and forth between my thumb and index finger. Being careful not to crack the wrapper. I do this the length of the cigar and, it usually does the trick but, not always.
Your skewer may still have been to big in diameter. You do not want to stick anything bigger than the diameter of a large paperclip through there.

My wife got me a commercial draw poker for Christmas, like this one

When I last used it, I noticed that it not only worked, but that there was a significant increase in the flavor of the cigar.

Man, I don't know...something about the way that fella is holding that thing...and it's design/shape...it just made me shudder...

it was 3 different brands, all of the PC variety. I tried a paper clip, but it didn't do much, so I moved on to the skewer. I may look into possibly hitting up the commercial one there, but the only place i've seen them is from Thompsons *shudder*

I think I saw some pokers on Heartfelts site.

dude, go gheto and unbend a paperclip. it works great and is less bulky than a draw poker if you are out n about.

Mag 46 and Monte 4's are the worst ones for me. I did purchase a SLB of 10 Siglo VI from a good retailer friend and 4 out of the 10 were so plugged they wouldn't even burn. That really is a pisser. Especially when your eyes suck all the way into your brain

Easy solution-- at least in the non-ISOM area-- stick to cigars from the only company (to my knowledge anyway) that UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEES that every cigar draws right. That company would be... :whistling:

i have been looking for an answer for tight draw troubles as well.

Sounds good, but it gave me an idea for a new invention, a dog rocket laucher, maybe propelled by a blank .45 cal cartridge. I could use it to chase off the javelina that eat my garden and shred the neigbors dogs. A pellet pistol does not seem to get their attention. Maybe a Cremosa or Maxim de Paris vaporizing on their butt might send a message.

MiamiCubano----LMFAO at your comments. I'm also looking forward to your humour. :D
