Im sure this is full of noobness...but had to ask. To add to my confusion, I see there are a bunch of makers that have the same name whether in or outside of cuba.

I see threads like "what are your recent purchases"...is most of that stuff cuban? or non?

When I go to a local cigar shop and get something from them in their regular display humidor, is this not what most of you smoke?

Thanks for putting up with the possibly stupidness of the question.

Just did some searching on the site and while I didnt really find much of an answer for my specific question (im not asking HOW to get them...just if its the most common type most U.S. cigar smokers smoke), I'll understand if this gets no replies, because it is a sensitive (and I'm sure a overly discussed) subject.

If you stick around here, you will learn a tremendous amount in little time, including the answer to your question. ;)

Very difficult to answer without knowing what it is that you're getting from your local shop and what they have in their "regular display humidor". What do you smoke?

I personally don't smoke them often and haven't had one that's really wow'd me, anyhow. There are too many other good cigars that are legal and cheaper to worry about Cubans right now, imo.

I think you'll find most U.S. people are going to be the same, although there are obviously those who do like and aquire certain cuban brands.

I smoke non-cubans.

There are some really great cigars that are non-cuban.

Here are a few brands to get you looking:

Arturo Fuente - great cigars
Don Peppin Garcia- Anything made by this guy is fantastic. Many Peppin whores on this board.
CAO- just stay away from the flavored cigars they make
Sancho Panza- really nice budget cigar. One of my favorites.
Cuesta Rey- another all around great smoke
Rocky Patel- Very popular and for good reason.
La Aurora- Another really popular smoke
La Gloria Cubana- These guys make some really great (and large) cigars.
La Flor Dominica - Very strong cigars. Be sure you eat something first!

These are just a few of the great brands out there.

It's because of the weed, isn't it?

:sign:

its because it means i'll fail my drug test!! I've been gifted more than a handful of ISOM from brothers, esp. my overseas secret santa, but like most have already stated, theres enough good domestic and legal cigars than i can taste. Bilder has alot of good ones in that list.

Last time I thought about smoking a Cuban he pulled a knife and tried to stab me. Fortunately we were able to talk things out and parted as friends.

I only smoke Cubans from my special source - his little brother's wife's cousin's aunt got a sex change and works security at El Laguito. Great cigars.

No US Citizens on this fine forum smoke ISOMs. That is illegal and all US brothers/sisters here are fine, upstanding, abiders of the law, staying steadfast at all times to never running afoul of the regs on this matter. :whistling:

I smoke plenty of non-Cuban cigars. Lots of good stuff out there worth laying down the green for, IMO.
