I know they'll never come find me to bring me to my next fight....I'm limping around today after a tough week of training. Got caught by a Judo guy on Tuesday night. I was in (what I thought was) good position, and he put on a shoulder throw...
Like an idiot, I tried to reverse once my feet were already off the ground, and landed on my neck and shoulder instead of breaking the fall and trying to deal once on the ground. He is a 5 pound over light heavy (210), and I'm cutting at the moment to be ready to fight welterweight, down to 176-177 or so. Probably shouldn't have been full-power/speed training with him. Yesterday, I was typing with one hand, sitting in my office half bent to the side behind my desk.
SO, take a few days off,....right? No. The schmuck (that would be me) went training last night because it was supposed to be a Muay Thai night, and my legs need work. AN hour of legs, keeping my head and neck out of the clinch, and we start working standing submission attempts. I'm about to quietly tell the trainer/coach/instructor that I think it's a good idea for me to sit this one out, when a new guy (great heart, REALLY enthusiastic...no control) grabs me in an attempted standing RNC. I tapped and went home. Fortunately business keeps me away from training until the middle of next week, and I am away this weekend, so I won't go on saturday, and should regain use of my arm and the ability to turn my head tot he left by then. Well, I hope sooner than that, seeing as I'm going hiking this weekend.
