Pretty cool thread about "speed aging" over in the Club Stog

There isn't a single fuggin thing in the world that makes me think putting my cigars in the microwave would be a good idea.

I thought cigar smoking was about relaxing? =)

In all honesty I appreciate what you've done here. I think I'll just let my smokes age naturally since I kind of dig the anticipation / waiting of having a cigar for months / years before actually smoking it.

Cheers,
Rob

I agree 100%.

So if we vacuum seal our cigars and introduce them to heat we'll be aging our cigars? ??? Hmmmmm, I normally don't buy cigars during the summer because I don't like them being shipped in the heat but now I'll have to reconsider. How much age will I gain if the temperture is 100+ and it takes five days to get to me? Wow, who knew....

Waste of a decent cigar. :(

Wilkey, why did you take so long to post, I've already boiled 300 cigars :sign:

Thanks for the explanation.

DAMN IT!!!!

I just tried to age my box of Cohiba Behikes that I'd been aging the old school method using the new "boil em in a bag" method and the friggin' bag leaked.

Now all I got left is a big ol' bag of Redman.

JK!! :sign:

Well that's your problem right there. Clearly the proper way to prepare cigars is by sauteeing in clarified butter with sliced shallots and white truffle shavings.

mmmmm. Now we're talking.

Ok,

For you: Crisco, wild onions from the backyard, and white button mushrooms from the Piggly Wiggly. :D

LMAO at the asshats who are boiling their cigars :)

Now Andrew didn't you do something like this a long time ago when you where on an espresso or coffee kick. You chopped, boiled or steamed it then you went one step further and drank the cigar instead of smoked it. :sign:

Yeah but I was being intentionally stupid, not trying to "speed-age" my cigars by boiling 'em. Too funny. :)

Yea and that is better how?

I think you could have just won your own contest with that statement. :whistling:

I think you where going for funny and shocking not intentional stupid. We have enough problems with people being just plain stupid.

I also whole-heartedly applaud the enthusiasm and ingenuity of the original poster. These "garage" experiments often do produce results that professionals would never encounter due to their more rigid regimental processes - which is the basis of good science, after all.

There is a place in the pantheon of science for the lone inquisitor. It's different than most methods but not necessarily useless.

As far as cigars go, the time-tested techniques produce very good results. Also, the ritual elements are not to be discounted! It's fun. :D

What if I just want to get through a sick period....do I just par-boil them so they don't age to much? Is there a corellary developed yet for minutes of boiling and the years of age it will equal? If so I have a Padron Millenium that I want to age a millenium....

Maybe a pressure cooker would make it happen even better,....hmmmm a vacuum sealed bag inside of a pressure sealed vat...YUMMMM

edit-cuz I sux at typin'
