...who do I order them from?

Has anyone ordered Stone Crab's 'online' before?

Joe's in Miami is gooda....but about $100+ extra for enough for 4 people.

I looked at 'Billy's'....and that seems pretty good!

Have you tried going to your local seafood market? Stone crabs are pretty common thing up here in New England. In high school I worked in a fish market and we used to get tons (literally) of these in.

There are lots of Dungeness crabs around here this time of year but never had a Stone Crab. Mmmmmmmm ....... fresh, sweet dungeness crab with a sour dough round and some garlic butter.

Funny you mentioned that David because I will be having some of those when I get out there in a couple of weeks.

As for stone crabs, living here in South Beach and the Florida Keys, I've never had to order stone crabs on line. But, if I was going to do so, I'd search out some fishmongers in the Keys. These guys are great:

Gary, I'm sure you can get crabs without going all the way to Florida. ;)

Matt's right - I know a whole bunch of guys who got crabs from this girl at the end of the hall in college, and all it cost them was a bottle of Boone's Farm Strawberry, but she was from Jersey. I hope this helps!

Kinda shellfish of you, ordering that much, innit?

I still remember chasing a loose blue crab around the kitchen while my wife stood on a kitchen chair hollering at me to "Catch him!". Yeah, I'm trying but he's fast, scared and then, really pissed off!

For what it's worth, it's just about impossible to catch a wet, mad crab with salad tongs.

Days later when we were telling this story, somebody asked me "You iced them down, didn't you?"

Ice? What's that for?
