My girlfriend recently played Guitar Hero III at a friend's house and she expressed to me that she would like it for Christmas. Well, after seeing Rock Band (Which comes with a guitar, drums, and mic) she decided she might like that too. Since both are video games, and I am a nerd, I picked up both.

Anyways, I gave them to her early (To be honest, I couldn't find the boxes, they are huge) and we played with them on Friday night. I've been playing that Rock Band all weekend while she's been wrapping gifts and what not. On Sunday, I told her to grab her guitar (from the Guitar Hero III) and I would use the Rock Band guitar, and we could play for awhile before I went home. Her guitar keeps scrolling to the bottom of the screen. The "strum" trigger is broken. A few minutes later, the Rock Band guitar stopped work, with the strum trigger as well.

The Rock Band company is two-day fed-ex-ing me a replacement, but I've not heard from the Guitar Hero company yet. I called my gamestop, which is who I bought it from, and they said they will exchange it, as soon as they get some more in.

Just warning you parents, these guitars (and other things from what I am reading) aren't holding up very well. Be Ready!

I've heard that there were issues with the Rock Band equipment. OutlawSP has had to replace his drum pedal already. Outside of that the real problem is trying to stop playing and overcoming the addiction

Dude.. you're not supposed to pretend you're Pete Townsend while playing.. LOL!

uh... What is the fun in that?

Slashing windmills FTW.

My RB guitar strum-bar went sound after a coupel of weeks with the game, but the replacement from EA was fast and easy... Don't let the hardware hiccups stop you from enjoying this awesome game!!

I have GHIII and can't put it down, no problems with the hardwear, only the softwear.... can't play online for some reason.

Thanks for getting rid of my biggest fear. :D

Now I gotta fix the GHIII problem, lol.

I have had GH2 for several months now and the guitar is still as good as it was when I bought it, still working through 3 also. Haven't had the money to buy Rock Band yet, it's on my Christmas list though.

I picked up a used copy of GHII before I got the other ones. I personally like playing GHII and GHIII with a controller. You can only use the rock band guitar for rock band, so I'm stuck using it. I think GHII had better songs than GHIII, overall.

Ugh, you play with a controller? I tried that for a few songs and just couldn't get into it. GH2 did have better songs, but I like GH3 because it has some newer songs on it. Though some of the selections I hardly qualify as "Legends of Rock". Tenacious D, come on now.

Everyone says that, but I liked it a lot. Tenacious D is awesome.

I never could figure out why you didn't hear any Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, or The Beatles? Also I never understand why there isn't a Journey song.

As sad as it is, the truth is $$$.
Well, $ and lawyers...

Those bands (+ the often mentioned AC/DC) are notoriously tight w/ their licensing. And they are scared/unsure of anything that has to do with digital distribution. All this adds up to MOUNTAINS of legal problems that the games' producers have to deal with. And since the time-resources are so short in videogames, it isn't really feasible to go after acts like this. (though I imagine that RB2 and GH4 will break down some of these walls...)

Oh, and The D are rock legends. We just don't know it yet. I wish they would put all their songs on rockband!

I figured as much. Doesn't Michael Jackson own The Beatles songs? You'd think he'd be hard up for money! :sign:

You don't have to spend very much to get a decent acoustic guitar. It's not that hard to learn, either. I taught all three of my kids to play by the time they were 12 and had hands big enough(well, almost). It was a source of fun and more for years to come and gave us something in common that lasted into the teenage years.

Food for thought. ;)

I have Rock Band and love it. I haven't had any hardware problems either, although i do like the guitar hero guitar better.

Well, the wife got me...er, us this for Christmas and I learned that my eye-hand coordination ain't what it used to be. :whistling:

I'm ok on the guitar, I can't sing (that's a given) and I can play drums.....as long as I don't get a song that uses the foot pedal. Damn.
