**Burglary Update**

Sorry to hear about your loss and I'm glad everyone is OK, dogs included. I have a couple of dogs myself but no kids. I could live with losing just about anything as long as my dogs were OK. I guess I'm going to have to post some photos of them now.

I know the idea probably turns your stomach, but I wanted to add that if you really want your lighter back your best bet is probably to be the high bidder. Even better still have a BOTL in a different city be the high bidder (unless the cops are planning on buying it). You may also get a return address or at least a PO box that way and maybe some banking info. I'd hate to see some J***off outside the US get it. You would probably never get it back then.

Good Luck,
Larry Heiss

Bad things DO happen to bad people! Good for you Marco, hope you get everthing back. I hope you get an eye to eye moment, i'm sure the punk will feel a bit of fear. ;)

The item is no longer for sale... hopefully it's because the cops are involved now. But just in case that's not the reason...

Those fuggers!!!! That's crazy Marco that you found this!

What's the fuzz doing about this? They can run IP addresses and all that, especially Vegas Metro. Them boys are loco.

***UPDATE***

Met with the detective. Got my OPusX lighter with case back along with a silver Chamush (the Jewish brothers will know what it is) statue.

He said it was a "second hand" store, not a pawn shop. He said he walked in and the kid looked really stoned. Asked about the lighter and the kid said some kid stopped by yesterday. He gave the kid $20 for the lighter and statue and they usually put it on eBay and take 35% of the cut.

Detective said that these juvies are part of the "Doggie Door Bandits" here in Las Vegas. Said they most likely never return to the scene. Too many homes to hit. He's going to visit the place next week to see if the thief shows up...but I said to him that this kid in the shop is probably part of the gang.

Since it's a second hand store, they are not required to get forms of ID's or report or hold anything for 30 days. Right next door is EZ Pawn which does require to adhere to these laws.

I'm glad to have my lighter back, the detective said my cigars are likely gone...but hopefully we can locate the laptops...he said there were 88 Dell laptops in the system from the past 7 days!!

Thanks to all who have PM'd, called and emailed me...I appreciate it greatly. It helped me get through the last couple of days.

Great to hear man, Hopefully those laptops turn up for you soon.

Good to hear! Just out of curiosity, how much is that lighter worth? I have never seen one like that before.

Well, it's worth an awful lot more than the measly $20 the kid got for it! To some that have them, perhaps priceless.

What a great BOTL story...I am more and more impressed with the people who spend time on this board, I mean really how often in todays day and age do you see people looking out for each other the way you guys do. Someone pops on ebay and notices a product for sale that a fellow smoker recently said was stolen from him and instantly he is informed of the auction so he can recover his item. that really is fantastic

Wow man, I didnt notice your other thread but from another Vegas guy I'm sorry to hear this all happened. A bunch of scum living in this city.

Anyways, I'd offer to help ya out if you need anything, but I don't really have any way to help. But then again if some scum bag needs to meet up with the underside of a jeep...you know how to contact me.

And you'd be pretty impressed with what quarter inch steel bumpers will do to a car...

Disclaimer: I'm not condoning vigilante justice nor am I offering it. I'm just saying.......

Thanks guys...a special thanks goes to my buddy Wanger on CF, he's the one who spotted my lighter on Ebay when he found out it was stolen. I'm glad to have friends in law enforcement here in town, they really worked fast. I mean, within 3 days of the crime, I got a couple of things back. That rarely happens. I'm very grateful and fortunate.

Abbie and I are alittle more at ease tonight to know that it was a random hit by the "Doggie Door Bandits". The back of our house can be seen from the street as the wall is about 6ft high. You can see if there is a "patio doggie door".

I asked the detective today what are the chances of being hit again and he said none. These are young juvies who are doing "walk away crimes". They carry a backpack, take stuff that will fit in it and move on. Sell the stuff to second hand and pawn shops.

I hope to get my personal laptops back...as I said earlier, there were about 88 laptops reported by pawn shops in the last 7 days.

I'll keep updating if anything else shows up...

Hoshnasi...the lighter is the first one of the OpusX line. It's value to me is priceless...retail was about $900. They're the Rolex of lighters.

Best of luck to you man! I know the odds are against you, but you have already got the lighter back which is huge. Good things could still be in your future.

Glad to see that you got the lighter back. You can always go to Casa Fuente and replenish your stash for 3 times MSRP!! Kidding, I am sure that you will have no problem building your stash back up.

That's great news about the lighter. Hopefully you can recover some of the other items and these pieces of human debris contract a slow, painful terminal disease. Oh my, was that out loud? :whistling:

Good to hear. Hopefully that's just the start of it. What was the story with the shop it was being sold at? Was it a shop?

I would be installing a doggie door, complete with guillotine ;) Just kidding.....I would think up some way to make the bastard die a slow painful death.
