Cabinet Humidor

I would say that unless you want that humidor as a piece of furniture, just get a cooler. It'll be bigger and way cheaper. I don't plan on getting a furniture style humi until I am ready to consolidate EVERYTHING I have into on of the large, 6" tall, you-can't-miss-this-it's-a-humidor type units.

If you are looking for a furniture piece though, I think that humidor is quite nice.
 
I know I can make a coolador but I dont have a lot of places in my house to sit a cooler there without it looking wierd. Its either doing something along these lines or making a Wineador.
 
At first glance, I think it looks alot like a smaller version of the Aristocrat DX. I don't know anything about how it performs, but it looks nice. The price seems reasonable, too.
 
I bought one of these over a year ago. It's pretty well constructed, holds humidity well, and is quite a nice piece of furniture. On the negative side of things, cheaphumidors had a run last year where they took up to a few months to ship. At the time, people were also complaining that they had difficulty getting in touch with customer service (they didn't reply to e-mails, etc). A few people were complaining when this happened, but I haven't heard anything about the shipping situation in a while (mine came in about 2 weeks after ordering).

Understood: a cooler sitting inyour living room isn't exactly an attractive piece of furniture :D Still, if a Vinotemp or similar wine-o-dor is something you are considering, I would go for that instead for reasons similar to my first post. Plus, you get the bonus of temperature control.

I am not trying to steer you away from furniture style units. I just think that if you are going to get into those things and the costs they involve both for the unit itself and the shipping, then you should get a really large one. When I get around to one of these I want it to hold E V E R Y T H I N G heheheheh.

Just to give you some numbers, I currently have 2 vinotemps (about $175 each), a 60 qt. cooler ($50), and 2 desktop humidors ($50 or so each) all running at least 80% full and I have only spent a total of about $500 on them plus another $100 or so on beads and such. Total storage is several times the table style unit you linked.

Again, this is all just my opinion and obviously if a table-style humidor is something that will be useful to you it will certainly look much nicer than a cooler or Vino.

I was looking at that humi for a while, then I found THIS one which I thought was better looking. But right about the time I was getting ready to pull the trigger I stumbled on a used Avallo 1200 which I thought about for about a half second and jumped.

I am with you, my wife would be complaining about coolers in the house, but she really likes the Avallo, and doesn't mind the "pretty" desk top or my Vinotemp.

Wine coolers kick ass too, but I ran out of space in my 28 bottle rig, so now it is reserved for southern beetle prone smoke types.
 
I've got that cheaphumidors cabinet, and I love it. Having coolers around the house, even under the stairs out of sight was NOT an option with the wifely unit©

she likes this one, and has no trouble with it in the living room. so much so I'm thinking of adding another one! Holds RH well, looks nice, holds a few cigars (but ot 1200) and fairly inexpensive. At least it'll work until I get my aristocrat as my retirement present to myself.

You can do better with coolers, winodors and so on... but if anyone is picky about the look of things, the Connoisseur is a decent choice IMO

I have two of the 28 bottle Vinotemps. They will hold from, oh I'd say a bare minimum of 12 to over 20 boxes depending on the size of the cigars plus a singles tray or two and 2 lbs. of beads.

Here is a thread with some shots of them. They are both packed full now. The one on the right currently has 20 boxes and the one on the left has a few less (due to larger box sizes) but also has 3 singles trays with another 100 cigars.

I have the Connoisseur unit from Cheaphumidors as well. I got it about 1.5 years ago and quickly outgrew it. The seal wasn't the greatest when I got it, so I added some weather stripping around the door; worked much better after that. I use a Cigar Oasis Plus; it works fine.

Also, the crotched mahogany grain will vary between units. I was lucky to get a great looking door (there's a picture of it in my profile as my website).

Overall I like the unit a lot. In my opinion, it fits somewhere between an expensive Aristocrat/Avallo and the cheap cooler. A wine cooler can be an alternative, but this might fit better in a living area. It really depends how much money you want to spend and what you want to look at. There's a different storage solution for everyone. I know someone here on CP actually added a cooling unit to it as well.

Regarding shipping, I got mine within a week and had great service from Cheaphumidors.com

beads all the way. I did forget to mentino I too redd the seal and it works better. Also, follow Rod's advice and check out the site. last I looked he does not carry the exact same humi, but one damn close!

Yea, in retrospect I should have gone the beads route as well instead of the Cigar Oasis.
