925 2.5" square drive deck screws is what I used, just for the decking and the three steps coming off the deck. Probably another 75 or so for the fascia, but I haven't counted that.

For my Memorial Day weekend I built a deck off the back of the house, around the spa. First I had to rent one of those super industrial air powered jack hammers and the compressor, which was diesel powered and a trailer unto itself, to take out the old concrete steps. Then I had to clear an area for the spa, rent one of those power tampers to compress the soil, then lay the foundation for the spa to sit on. After that was done (and the foundation laid) I had to rent a one man auger to dig the footings, 4' deep. Then mix the concrete and set the posts. Then rented one of those 360 degree laser levels to mark and cut the posts to proper height. Then finally build the deck itself, 15'x21'. So yes, I'm proud of myself and what I got done this weekend! I'll try and snap some pictures to add later.

This thread is worthless without pics.

Congrats on your project. I am in the process of cleaning, repairing, and restaining my deck so I know how much work it can be. Nicely done.

Great job! I would love to try and tackle a project like that myself, but I am usually too chicken to go for it. lol Look forward to seeing pics!

The boys at Joe-Bob's Rent All must love you!

Deck up and flat? Level? Stable? Still have all your fingers? Then I'm calling it a SUCESS!

Hope you enjoy it, Andy. Sounds like a great place to sit and watch the world go by.

Holy crap! That would have taken me at least a week and a half dozen trips to Home Depot. Well done!

I thought I got a lot done this weekend putting up fence.

We have to go down 5 1/2' up here for footings. I'll tell you what, that's not an easy hole to dig.

Well done, Andy.
