925 2.5" square drive deck screws is what I used, just for the decking and the three steps coming off the deck. Probably another 75 or so for the fascia, but I haven't counted that.
For my Memorial Day weekend I built a deck off the back of the house, around the spa. First I had to rent one of those super industrial air powered jack hammers and the compressor, which was diesel powered and a trailer unto itself, to take out the old concrete steps. Then I had to clear an area for the spa, rent one of those power tampers to compress the soil, then lay the foundation for the spa to sit on. After that was done (and the foundation laid) I had to rent a one man auger to dig the footings, 4' deep. Then mix the concrete and set the posts. Then rented one of those 360 degree laser levels to mark and cut the posts to proper height. Then finally build the deck itself, 15'x21'. So yes, I'm proud of myself and what I got done this weekend! I'll try and snap some pictures to add later.
