So I'm getting a box of either. Which should I pick?
Yep. I'd say the same. The shorter, but identical ring Tres Mystique are my second favorite. These little crackers compare quite favorably to Cohiba Siglo I, Partagas Shorts, and Trinidad Reyes in the compact minutos vitola. A well-aged Illusion reminds me fondly of a well-aged Romeo y Julieta Cazadores. Yum!Illusions are my favorite cigar in the VSG line.

Wilkey
I know which I'd pick. I find the Illusions more extracted and flavorful than the Corona Gorda or Robustos.

By extracted I mean more prominent, concentrated flavors, so in a sense they are easily detectable, intense. Smoked gently and slowly, even ultra-small ring cigars can stay cool and clean to the very end. For example, I've taken Monte Joyitas and Cohiba Panetelas down to a nub that looked like a 3/8" piece of chopstick and they were still fully enjoyable. So true Professor, if by saying "extracted" you mean to separate taste for our consideration.I know which I'd pick. ...Then a buddy of mine gave me an Illusion and I couldn't believe the difference...I was shocked. I went on to smoke the Tres Mystique and had a similar experience....the smaller ring size really let the cigar build in flavor by demonstrating subtle, slow changes in it's taste from the beginning to the end. The Corona Gorda & Robusto were somewhere in between these two experiences, but once I saw the potential in the Illusion, it was hard to go back. So now I only smoke the Illusion & Tres Mystique in the VSGs.
Now this goes against my steadfast belief in smaller ring sizes in more powerful cigars, less girth will trap tars and nicotine and stays hot once it gets to that point...all of which makes for a less than enjoyable smoke......I guess not, ya' live, ya' learn....classic stuff.
