I have this hand carved / hand painted cedar chest from Honduras. Its about as big as a large cooler. Any way - since Humidors are made from Spanish cedar (a type of mohogany) and the cedar chest is made of actual cedar, is there a way to defunkify the cedar so that I can make this into a humidor. I don't want my smokes smelling / tasting like the cedar chest.

Thanks for any advice. If I can get this answered i will post pics of the project.

What he said.

Even if you seal it, there's a 'chance' it could still emit odor....that you don't want.

Sometimes the wood is layered in and not solid.
Can the wood(cedar lining?) be take out and replaced?
