Cigar Band Table Project:

That looks outstanding, John! Very classy and one of a kind, I'm looking forward to the day when I am in your neck of the woods and can check it out in person, it'll be a hell of a conversation piece, that is for sure. I never had the honor of meeting nor talking with Infinity, but any time someone is remembered is something good, I'm sure he would be pleased to see your hard work come to fruition.

John, thanks for posting your progress. It's been fun keeping track of this and it looks great now that it's finished!

Outstanding job! Here's to many more good memories happening around that table!!

Great looking table Jon. The attention to detail from the pictures looks awesome.

Holy Heck, I had forgot about this thread...

Looks really nice SD, Brian would be proud.

That table looks great Jon. I can't imagine the time it took to do it or the sticky hands. You can get Spanish Cedar from Woodcraft and they have a store in OC.

Jon, that table is freakin awesome with such a great story and heartfelt meaning behind it. I'm sure Brian is proud of it and is smiling as we speak.

Now go start smoking more cigars and make a couple end tables to go with it.

As of 07/29/2009, I have finally finished my cigar band table. It's been a daunting task , but it has been truly worth it. This table is a true testament for me about the spirit of CP, paying it forward, and the bond our hobby cements between us. Many of these bands have been enjoyed by their owners in times of tribulation, jubilation, celebration, and consternation. A majority of these bands were donated by good BOTLs, taken from others at herfs, and personally handed to me while smoking in a quiet place with an old friend.

The biggest reason this table means so much to me is that I feel I was finally able to create something to memorialize Brian (Infinity) in. In the very center of the table is a Padron Millennium band from the first cigar that he and I smoked at his house. I was new to Cigar Pass, and new to cigars. The first time I met Brian was the moment I learned what a BOTL is, and was the very first time I became a student of his wisdom. Brian is a very dear friend that I will always miss, and always revere with the highest of respect.

Now, a piece of him that is very dear to me is immortalized in the center of this table, reminding me of this: No matter how many HTF's you chase down, no matter how many bombs you send, no matter how many sticks you have; IN THE END IT'S JUST CIGARS. Act accordingly and smoke those motherbitches.

Thank you Matt (mmburtch), George (ggiese), Brent (BSneed51), looking for knowledge (sorry man, the name is escaping me), Matt (beyond the band), Andy (Cigarman Andy), Sam (in2xshp), Fatken, Mr. Peat, all the CP BOTLs at the Outlaw Padron Event (the ones I swiped bands from), and anyone else I forgot. You guys really helped make this table happen and I thank you!

ETA: More thanks...

Whoa, Bro! That table looks so sick. I can't wait to see it on Friday....good work man!

Very cool. Waiting for an invite so I can smoke around the table.

That is truly outstanding! Very nice and I am sure your friend would be very proud and honored.

Thanks for the congratulations and kind words fellas. This table is completely COVERED, there is not one spot, besides the center, that is not covered in bands. Each one was cut, placed on, and sealed by hand, so it was a ton of work! Hey Andy, why don't you make a thread on here to show the progress on your table? I'd like to see how it ends up.

I will be posting a contest soon on guessing how many bands are on the table, but it will have to coincide with a herf.

Very cool. Waiting for an invite so I can smoke around the table.

Once you get your invite, drive through KC and pick me up. Road trip herf.

Hell yeah, pick him up and head on over!! Herf is coming soon, I just got the buyoff from the wife!
