Took my mother out to Olive Garden for lunch . . . since I'm the only responsible family member here; my brother and nephew apparently forgot it was Mother's Day.

Anyhoo, while I've heard Olive Garden panned by foodies before, this was the second time in as many months I've eaten there, and it was just fantastic. Much, much better than this same location was ten years ago, definitely, and today the service was absolutely impeccable. Didn't have to ask for a thing . . . everything just magically appeared when needed.

That's one lil' cutie-pie of a waitress who really knows her stuff for such a young'n . . . and who's probably still dancing around the breakroom over her tip. :whistling:

Great meal, good day.

I stopped eating there. I really only went for the Chicken Parmigiana, and when they switched from cooking the chicken "in-house" to pre-frozen chicken (confirmed by a buddy who's a waiter) :( I just couldn't do it anymore.

Though, I'm not sure if all Olive Gardens did the switch. Their bread sticks are damned good though.

I generally prefer Macaroni Grill for chain Italian; their wood-fired oven bread with dipping oil is practically a meal in itself, and the Tuscan ribeye's a great steak. But Mom can never seem to find a menu item that agrees with her there and she LOVES the Olive Garden entrees.

And after all, it was HER day. I'm just glad it turned out to be so good. :)

The new Mussels di Napoli appetizer is amazing.

As long as Mom enjoyed the day is all that matters. Gotta love mom. Mine buys me cigars for the holidays but has no idea what I like. She actually just goes to sites and reads all the reviews and pick what everyone else says is good. Moms are the best.

Lord, I hope Doc doesn't find this!

LOL!

It is Texas after all, what do they know about Italian food?

The bottom line was you remembered your Mom, good for you!

Glad you and your mom had a good meal Boar... that's really all that matters. Just to be on the safe side you should go get some barbecue though... just to appease the foodie gods...

Was it the Olive Garden on the northside of SPID? I think I've eaten there a few times.

I've always enjoyed Olive Garden. I'm not under any impression that it's fine, authentic dining, but I've never had anything there that wasn't tasty.

It's kind of like Wendy's to me. I know they don't have the best burgers, but they taste good.

I'm glad you and your mom had a good meal. We always have to remember mom.

I have to take issue with the Wendy's comment. The 1/4 double stack is arguably the best fast food burger on the market!

As far as OG is concerned, the wifey loves the salad and breadsticks so we end up grabbing lunch there once or twice a month.
