Nearing the time for a celebratory baby cigar.

I've thought about the box option, and I may do that. Perhaps I will get a box of Oliva V's and attempt to hold them for the future. However, I think I need to get something really nice for baby day (or the first day I have the opportunity following birth). I plan to enjoy a glass of fine...

Nearing the time for a celebratory baby cigar.

In June I'm expecting child #1, a boy. I'm wondering what I should smoke for the occasion. My go to smoke right now is Oliva V, but I only do one or two a week of this one; most of the time I just plow through 3 dollar smokes. But when I splurge, I go for a Camacho Triple or maybe an Opus...

I need a suggestion or two

I'm mostly into Oliva V these days. Lately, I've been looking for something new in the same $6-8 dollar range. I think I need to go more Medium-Full strength, although I do enjoy a mild Perdomo Champagne or a full strength Opus(when affordable). Any suggestions?

Any suggestions for a creamy medium smooth cigar!

My number one mild is Perdomo Champagne, perhaps the toro size. My number one medium is Oliva V torpedo. My number one, full bodied and quite creamy is Camacho Triple Maduro, I think it is the torpedo size. I'm no expert, just an average regular cigar smoker. I seldom go to really cheap...

    Best Value Bourbon

Which are the best bourbons for the money? Lately when I've been going for value price while not sacrificing flavor, I've been going with Jim Beam Black. I also think that Bulleit can be a nice value bourbon. Actually, I enjoy Fighting Cock, albeit it a tad harsh. Great with a bit of ice and...

    Bushmills Black Bush

The first time I tried this one was around some lesbian in-laws. Not surprising, there were many good jokes that night! The ladies smoked some Perdomos with me as well.

    Rocky Patel 1961

I had my first one of these tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. I believe it cost me $8.30 for the torpedo or whatever it is called. I won't go to it too often, but it will definitely be in the equation periodically.

What are the effects of large stems/midribs in a cigar?

Whoops. Meant to post this in the Cigar Lounge section. Thanks for the input, but I'd like to move the discussion there. Is it possible to lock or delete this one?

Cigar is hard to stay lit. Hard draw.

Erroneous on my part. I realized that I posted in the wrong forum and then copyed and pasted the text into the proper forum. I just didn't remember the exact title of the original post. Then I went to delete the original post that was in the wrong forum and my wife beckoned me to the other...

Cigar is hard to stay lit. Hard draw.

I have encountered several cigars that burned poorly, to the point of barely drawing at all. I decided to do a rather uninformed autopsy of said cigars. The one thing I noticed it that there were a couple of thick stems or midribs on some leaves. Kind off a thickness that reminds you of a...

    Cutting your cigar

I am no expert; actually more like an incompetent novice! However, it seems that the angled cut would increase the surface area of the cut, which in turn may increase the draw. So, the angle cut cigar may smoke differently. Just a thought.

    Crappy Oliva V Maduro

The real problem was the tightness of the roll. About 2/3 of the way down the cigar, it was quite soft and loose feeling. I believe that the loose roll had an impact on the burn.
