    IRS problems

This is a scam, and people who try to assert tax freedoms inevitably end up in jail. Period, end of story.

Anyone Know a good online merchant?

These guys are local to me, and don't sell mason or ball jars, but they have a heck of a shop http://www.specialtybottle.com/ I like the look of the tins they sell, and have pondered a purchase of the clear top ones http://www.specialtybottle.com/index.asp?P...ustom&ID=39 Seems like it would...

    Age of cigars when bought

I'll chime in on this. For me, personally, aging is necessary for all cigars, pretty much. It may sound odd as someone who has been smoking for years and years, but I'm really quite sensitive to nicotine, and yet I really enjoy full bodied and strong flavored smokes. The solution for me is to...

    Newbie introduction

Eric, thanks for the kind words. I'm all the way out here in Seattle and so my Boswell probably won't arrive until Wednesday or so considering it's got to come nearly 3000 miles and probably via UPS Ground so that's a one week ship. I absolutely will keep folks posted as things develop, it'll...

    $1.50 Habanos!

For those who are curious, these are made in Nicaragua... reminds me of all those great brands with the word "Cuba" in the name...

Humidor's temp is usually in the low-mid 70's -- that OK?

Anything over 75 for prolonged periods is trouble. Not for the sticks per se, but because tobacco beetles hatch at those temperatures, and they'll destroy everything if they hatch. IMHO you are skirting the edge if the sticks are routinely stored at 74 degrees.

    Initializing Cigar Boxes?

I'm not sure what you mean by initialize, but yes, if you receive boxes that have been dried out and are at a lower RH than the rest of your humidor, you will find that it takes a while for the RH to come up to the right level. Similarly if you put a "wet" box into your humidor, it may take a...

    Frustration/Venting

I think this is EXACTLY the right attitude. The danger people get into is when they start believing that a particular property is the only one that will work for them. The truth is that most of the details of a property are just that, details, and malleable. In retrospect, the #1 thing I like...

    Frustration/Venting

I dunno. Here in Seattle, which is a stronger market than most of the country, I see a lot of weird stuff. There's a house on my block which just sold at asking price at the first open house. There's another around the corner that is IMHO much nicer that has been on the market for a while...

    Opinions on Kirsten Pipes

Hey all. Twistabister mentioned this retailer near me and I'm definitely going to go check them out, but they have a pretty outlandish range of custom pipes http://www.kirstenpipe.com/pipes.shtml I did a search here on the forum and it seems a few folks own their pipes and like them, but I...

Anyone recommend a Seattle B&M Pipe Store?

Oh, wow. I live in Ballard. There's a restaurant near this shop that I've been to once or twice, many years ago. I had forgotten about it completely. This looks like an EXCELLENT resource. Thanks so much! Now, to only imagine how nice it would be if we could actually smoke in smoke...

    Newbie introduction

Hi guys. I figured I should take a moment and introduce myself, as I am new to this section of CigarPass and started out here with a post on a random topic (Seattle B&M) which isn't relevant to 99% of the folks here... I'm Bob Ramstad, I've been smoking cigars for 14 years, but am a complete...

Anyone recommend a Seattle B&M Pipe Store?

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep my ears open and if I find anything good, will post on this thread. FWIW, Bigjake made a very nice offer to help with a purchase of a Savinelli but this afternoon after some emailing and phone calls and whatnot on the suggestion of CPT/VSG have a Boswell...

    Cigar Bands

I believe you are looking for pectin. It's commonly used in canning. The easiest way to buy it is in liquid ready to use form, it comes in small foil pouches, and should be readily available in any large supermarket. A commonly available brand is Certo. Hope this helps.

Anyone recommend a Seattle B&M Pipe Store?

Oh, and guess I'll state the obvious, which is that I'm figuring it makes more sense for me to go to a retail store and heft a few pipes to get a sense of what seems to "feel" right... That said, if it's all going to feel weird for a while LOL then I could see the wisdom of finding a good...

Anyone recommend a Seattle B&M Pipe Store?

Hi everyone. I'm Bob and I'm a total pipe newbie. I've been smoking cigars for 14 years, but have never smoked a pipe. My good buddy CPT/VSG has been filling me in, and I want to give the hobby a whirl. I'd love to buy a nice classic series (inexpensive, small) Boswell, but with the high...

    Patriot Woes Getting interesting

The NFL and MLB both have anti trust exemptions from the government, and most teams play in stadiums funded by public funds. If there was a major cheating scandal, and the league collapsed, it's possible that cities might default on bonds used to pay for stadium construction. There is a...

    Another question on mold...

Wow, wow, wow. Clearly mold. As others have noted, either the vendor is incredibly dense ignorant and stupid OR they are trying to pull a fast one. Regardless, buyer beware! Bad vendor!

    Blank Cigar Bands

$16 for 500 or $30 for 1000 including shipping. Slightly more if you pay with a credit card. See the thread here: http://www.cigarpass.com/forumsipb/index.php?showtopic=11185 Cash is easier but if you prefer to trade, I'm cool with that, too.

    Blank Cigar Bands

The guy at Viper started selling his sometime after my third group buy. His are rectangular. Mine are cigar band shaped. I don't know where his are manufactured, but mine are made in a factory that does a lot of business making cigar bands specifically. Some folks prefer his, some prefer...
