Loch Dhu 10 yo Black Whisky

Do a Google search on it. There are a lot of hits. Many reviews (most of them unfavorable). It was distilled at Mannochmore Distillery. It is no longer made by my understanding. It is available, but I think only in the UK. Prices I have seen are upwards of $150 a bottle. My own experience...

    Glenglassaugh 27 yo Scotch Malt

Great review, Ray. Personally, I like hearing about these 'hard to find', 'no longer made', 'have to work hard to seek them out' gems. It's like a rare or hard to find cigar...the hunt is half the fun.

    Four Roses Limited Edition

Great review, Ray. Sorry to hear that it was not the uber-bourbon that you were expecting. Still, I cannot wait to try it. A little bird told me that I have a bottle with my name on it somewhere in Kentucky. :p

    The world's best bourbon

Bourbon under $100...there are just so many. My recommendations are (not necessarily in any order): AH Hirsch 16 Year Old William Larue Weller (part of the Antique Collection) George T Stagg (any release) Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year Old (for that matter, the 15 Year Old as well) Four Roses Single...

    New Glasses

I purchased some of these... I have them from about eight different distilleries. I also picked some up from Buffalo Trace and Heaven Hill while in Kentucky. I love'em.

Whisky Galore Bowmore 16 Year Old

You are right on many counts. I should have mentioned the Binny's pricing (good until the 26th of this month). You are also right about the $50-$60 range...many more that I would turn to at that range. Sorry for the confusion.

Whisky Galore Bowmore 16 Year Old

Whisky Galore Bowmore 16 Year Old Islay Scotch. Distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2004. Aged in Oak. Unchillfiltered. Bottled at 46%. Standard tall bottle, no additional packaging. Color: Chardonnay. Cloudy when chilled. Nose: The nose is oaky-smokey with some fruit esters for...

    Signatory Clynelish 1991 - 13 Year Old

It was bottled in 2005. Initial post corrected.

    Signatory Clynelish 1991 - 13 Year Old

It wasn't. I'd buy it again (only about 1 finger left in the bottle), but there are so many others to try. I'll have to work my way around to it again.

    Signatory Clynelish 1991 - 13 Year Old

Well, here is the first of three reviews on some scotches that I recently tried. I'll post the others over the next few days. I don't have the experienced palate that AVB does, but here it goes anyway. Clynelish, Highland Scotch, Signatory bottling, unchillfiltered. Bottled at 43% (86...

Whats in your glass right now?

Nice thread. Last night I started with a finger of Rosebank (bottled by Lombard) 12 Year Old. Very nice, light pre-dinner drink. I then had a finger of Bowmore (bottled by Whisky Galore) 16 Year Old. After dinner, I finished off the evening with a small pour of Clynelish (bottled by...

    Dalwhinnie 29 yo Cask Strength

Great review!!! I tried some outstanding whiskies over that weekend and the Dalwhinnie was far and away my favorite. To my experience, it was easily the most unique. The sour apple was over the top. Ray, thanks for making such a treat available to us at the herf.

    2007 BBQ Herf

Sounds like a great concept to me!! I'll bring something along...I just don't know what yet. I'll make it obscure enough that we won't duplicate, though.

You got it. Got plenty of chips?

    George T. Stagg's Bourbon

That is pretty typical with this bourbon. It only comes out once or twice a year and then only on allocation. It is not something that can just be ordered...typically. October (after the Bourbon Festival) would be the next release date. Check and see what you local place is allocated for.

I'm there. The wife and I arrive Saturday and will be there for the whole thing. Should be a blast.

    2007 Scotch Herf

I'll jump in with everyone else with a big THANK YOU to both Ray and Anna for the Scotch Herf. Ray, truly the finest whiskies that I have ever had the please to sample. Anna, thank you for so graciously putting up with us. Your generosity and hospitality were off the charts and much...

    2007 BBQ Herf

Great. Now that's how you promote a herf. :p This thread needs to get bumped...less than a month away.

    Talisker 10 yr old

Have to agree with AVB on this one. Does not sound anything like the Talisker 10 YO that I have. I would describe it as very full bodied...big flavor. For me, it actually overpowers a cigar. Smoky and spicy both. Good stuff when I want something to drink and drink alone. Hmmm, of course...
