I only ask because I'm the only person my age who appreciates cigars and everyone else I know either doesn't smoke or only smokes cigarettes. I just figured if I wasn't a smoker I would want someone to ask me first. But thanks for the replies. :thumbs:

Gotta question for you folks, say your at a social gathering and there are smokers around (but they're smoking cigarettes) and you want to have a cigar. Do you think one should ask before lighting that baby up even though there are smokers all around you? I only ask because some may find a cigar...

A buddy's step-dad of mine use to drive an M3. Can't recall the year, but it was super fast. He sold it, bought an Acura TL and an Acura MDX then got rid of the MDX about a month ago and bought a 2003 Maserati Coupe. Love it. Had the pleasure to drive it. Simply amazing.

Very interesting Ulster. Thanks for the facts. I'd like to find out why Nicotine tends to affect Type 2's more then Type 1's. I'm curious because Type 1's generally have a weaker body (meaning their immune system) so I just want to find out why.

Type 1 (like myself) requires that we inject ourselves with insulin to survive. It means that our pancreas (the organ that produces natural insulin) has completely shutdown. Type 2 on the other hand is less severe because it means the pancreas is still producing some insulin and can be handled...

I read somewhere that nicotine reduces insulin absorption by 20%. I don't know if that's true or not, but that can't be good.

Well, that's good then. We all know the risks of smoking in general but I was just concerned about it with Diabetes. I appreciate the help from all of you.

Do we have any diabetics here who smoke? I have a friend who is interested in cigars and wants to start smoking them but he is a diabetic so I'm concerned if it will affect his health in anyway. Does anyone here have diabetes or may know what, if any, complications can follow? Jason
