    Costco/Kirkland Signature products

By the way, although it was "Big n' cheap" I specifically mentioned, it is their consistent high quality that has won me over through the years. Enough so that I will routinely choose their product(s) previously untried by me over their national brand product competition. Now about that...

    Costco/Kirkland Signature products

The Vodka thread got me thinking about this. I was at Costco today and saw a Kirkland vodka. Big n' cheap, Costco style. I gotta say, I've generally been pretty darn pleased with their range of store branded products. From batteries to yogurt, they rarely fail to win me over. Has anyone had...

How long can they sit around outside the humidor?

Yep. Or a jar, if they can fit in one while it's closed up. Or plastic bag. Whatever. The point is to keep their humidity contained in an enclosed environment. The smaller the environment the better. It's the ambient air that is their enemy. That should help you until your reinforcements...

    My new setup

Looks like a great setup! Now just post the updates when she moves out to sleeping on the couch and lets you make the bedroom into your "man room".

Do any of you actually prefer to keep your smokes under 60%?

Everyone has to find the right humidity for their individual taste - in consideration of their respective climate. I used to strive for 62%, but experimenting all of last year has made me happy to find 66% fit better for me.

    Reviews at cigars-review.org

It is the site I recommend the most by far to people who have zero experience with a particular Habano and are soliciting the generic, "What do ya'll think of xxxxx cigars?" kinda questions. I prefer it for the casual enthusiast 'cause it is rife with opinions of other casual enthusiasts and is...

Coronas Gordas and Robusto . . . you pick

SLR A's and either robusto I used to be on the Bolivar wagon as well, but they disappoint me more often than not now. In fairness to the marca, I think it is likely 'cause I expect more out of them than of most other marcas.

Odd Request: Places in Orange County to have a special picnic?

Checkin' back on this 'cause I'm curious what you went with. Oh, I also noticed you ix-nayed the hot air balloon ride 'cause of heights. Don't let acrophobia deter you from that idea. I have never met another soul more petrified of heights than I am - seriously, never. I've been on hot air...

Odd Request: Places in Orange County to have a special picnic?

I've been on probably every Gondola ride there is in the area. Of them all, I like the one linked to in post #4 the best by far. The coast through Naples Island is very romantic - especially in the sunset and early evening hours. But that's not what I'm thinking of for you in consideration of...

Odd Request: Places in Orange County to have a special picnic?

Question for SOCAL crew about Riverside

You talkin' the actual city of Riverside or anywhere in the Riverside County area? Contemplating enrolling in UCR? Somewhere else? How long of a commute are you interested in? Price range? Housing type? Other factors?

    Humidor Tray

I leave the tray in when I have the room for it. The extra wood helps buffer humidity and I like the "to be smoked next" selection I rotate to the top tray(s). I take the tray out when excess cigar inventory allows no room for it. I don't pay much attention to varying humidity ranges within...

Beginner, which Cuban would you suggest?

No offense, but I tend to doubt one who is completely new to Habanos would be familiar with the acronym for Ramon Allones Specially Selected cigars. For the original poster, the RASS is a Robusto format.

Beginner, which Cuban would you suggest?

Any of them will do. You have no benchmark to base off of and you haven't listed any general taste preferences for us to work from. Cohiba and Montecristo marcas seem to hypnotize newcomers most with their fame and acclaim, so you might start with those if you have access to them.

    Aging non Cubans

All organic things, tobacco leaf included, improve with age. That is to say... they "ripen" when they reach maturity. Then, just like people, their physical characteristics decline with advanced age. It's to each our own as to when in something's life it displays its best attributes. edit to...

    So. Cal. - Jan. 17, 1994 4:30 a.m.

I woke up from my sleep during this one. Same as had happened about 7 or so years earlier during the Whittier one. I was about midway between both of those areas, but recall the Whittier one feeling much stronger.

    Colibri Bankrupt?

My all time number #1 never fail lighter is a Colibri CEO Elite (soft flame). It's a beast of a work horse. Then again, I consider most flint ignition lighters to be generally more reliable than torches tend to be. I think I'll stock up on flints for it while I am still able to.

"Scares" seems like a strong word, but I gotta agree with this observation in whole.

    B&M's have to do better....

I've often suspected some of my local B&M's of actually being some type of money laundering operation. The same 4-6 guys sitting inside at any time of day on any day of the week. They grimace at me like I took a dump on their table if I dare to sit down on an empty seat. Cigar sales seems the...
