Update: after 3~4 days of baking soda caked onto the plastic inside the fridge...the smell seemed to go away. I just happened to leave it that way, I didn't have time to deal with it. After wiping the baking soda off with a sponge -- and leaving it open to dry -- I started testing the temp...

We should try different places... But, since nanamjaya1 suggested this...and since it's last minute, how about we keep it in the Glendale area. I think he's from the Glendale area. How about the next time we do a HERF in Arcadia? Rod may be down for that....
