    Give me Rye whiskey

I asked for sources of every rye, most were very elusive and would not disclose their source. Obviosuly ALL this overaged rye came from only a handful of sources since not many people had that much aged stock. When asked about their sources some offered partial information and that was how I...

    Give me Rye whiskey

My co-author and I did them all blind. Not sure if I rated it higher or he did. We took averages of our two ratings. This was the 22 year old, which at the time wasnt released yet. If I am not mistaken, the rumor is/was that it's vw whisky. I find my notes, my 4 favs were in no order: VWFR...

    Give me Rye whiskey

Thank you. After some more thought, it's definitely my favorite article and backdrop we used of all the articles we had done.

    Give me Rye whiskey

I did a high-end rye article awhile ago. Probably one of my favorite articles I have been involved with. http://www.app.com/goodlife/Fall2007/topshelf/topshelf.html As far as bang for your buck, the Rittenhouse BIB is great for Manhattans and rye based mixed drinks at $12-$15 a bottle. For a...

    Owen Roe

I absolutely love what Owen Roe does. My first one was the Yakima Red and it was one of the better wines I have had in the last 2 years. I have in my cellar right now: Sinister hand, Abbots Table, Kilmore pinot noir, Zinfandel, Sharecroppers cab, Sharecroppers pinot noir, Walla Walla Cab, Eola...

    Johnnie Walker Blue Label

I actually tried to get rid of the ratings as I feel they are too subjective, but the editors love the ratings and I guess the general public/readers do as well. I always rate sweeter whiskies higher than smokier ones which again is what I like. All the whiskies in this article were top notch...

    Johnnie Walker Blue Label

AVB, I got my last Mac 25 for $275, it will not be fun replacing it for $400ish. I guess Ill drink slow.... I feel all the JW products have too much smokiness, again thats just me, I am more of a smsw guy anyway. Id take HP 18 over JW Blue any day of the week. I wont bash JW Blue though, I...

    Johnnie Walker Blue Label

I feel JWB doesnt hold a candle to the Mac 25 with price being equal, obviously price is not equal so we have to weigh that in. JWB is a nice pour, but I feel very overrated as far as price goes ($175). I greatly prefer other blends such as Kings Crest 25 and feel even JW Blueis only slightly...

    It's a BOY.....so, what cigars do I buy?

Wow, ALL great ideas and thank you for the kind sentiments. Definitely going to get a box of the Fuente's Its a Boy. Perfect for the people that dont really smoke. For the 2nd box for the serious cigar smokers I am willing to spend $250 for a box. That may help in the recommendations. The...

    It's a BOY.....so, what cigars do I buy?

My wife and I found out last Friday we are having a boy around July 4th. I want to buy one box of cigars to hand out to my friends upon his birth. Any recommendations for this joyous occasion to satisfy a wide variety of people? If it's from ISOM that works too. Thanks for the help.

    Merlot vs Cabernet vs Chianti

From what I know red Bordeaux wine can only be a blend of cab, merlot, cab franc, malbec, and/or petite verdot. Mostly its the first three. In the past carmenere was in there, but that was long ago and no longer used in Bordeaux. Try Chile for some nice carmenere wines.

    The Abyss - 2008 **Updated**

Think I answered my own question. Seems this is a very highly touted RIS. #2 on BA's top 100 list.

    Tequila

I just looked at my notes, I never did try the 07. I stopped after the dismal 06. Does the 07 have the depth of the 04? I found the 05 and 06 lacked depth although the 05 was decent while the 06 made me very sad.

    The Abyss - 2008 **Updated**

This is probably a dumb question, but I dont know much about this particular beer and am currious...Is it seasonal? Highly sought after? A diamond in the rough?

    Tequila

Me too! I love JCRF, although from 2004 and back. The 05, 06, and 07 have left me a bit nostalgic for the 04s. Also, I agree DJ 1942 ($80) is an awesome tequila and WAY better than its big brother the DJ Real ($350!)
