The Smoking on the Red Cigar Event is set for March 27th at 211 Martini Lounge in Shreveport, LA. It is located at 211 Texas Avenue in downtown. The price is $35.00 per person. This will get you two drink tickets and a goody bag. The bags from last year were fantastic along with some really...
Great information Macion. I am waiting on two barrels now. Both are new American Oak with a medium char. I am going to use one for port and the other for bourbon. It was your original post that got me going on this. I can not wait for my barrels to arrive. Check out my blog at Visit My Website...
I am doing both. The casks are a medium char. I am going to cure the port cask with cognac. I am struggling with exactly what to do with the bourbon cask. I have thought about using sherry, but I think I really want to go with just the charred wood. When boubon is put in barrels to age they have...

I am now two weeks into my project. Check out my blog for the latest Bourbon; Cigars; Wine. The port blend is fantastic.

When I read Macion Grey's post "Port Barrel Question" I became intrigued about these small barrels and port. I had just returned from a trip to Door County...
My favorite is Old Charter 12 Year Old. They have quit making it so it is getting very hard to find. My brother-in-law and I are having a bourbon war trying to buy it all up. The distributors have brought in some jugs they got from other parts of the country where it does not move too fast. It...
It is a little late, but there is a cigar and burbon tasting event tonight in Shreveport at MoJo's on Texas Avenue in downtown. It cost $40.00, but you get a gift bag and there are supposed to be several cigar reps there. The last one I went to was well worth the admission.
There are two pretty...
Nice review. I have never had a Punch ISOM. I have had several domestic Punch and the Puch Champion is my go to smoke. I have tried the Punch Gran Puro and Rare Corojo as well. All are very good smokes.

I have never experienced this with an MX2, but I did with some RP Fumas. The whole bundle was salty. I put them in a small humi with a bed of pipe tobacco for the last eight months and they are not too bad now. I do cut about a 1/4 inch off when I smoke them.

This from a publication called Healthcare Purchasing News. Very interesting. I wonder how this affects cigars?

I just returned from a trip to Door County Wisconsin. We visited several small wineries there and came across three really good tasting sweet ports.
Here is the link to Simon Creek Winery. This was my favorite port. They also have a fantastic sherry.

Man I hate I missed all that. I was in Chicago that week. I did get to go by Jack Shcwartz and Iwan Ries. I picked up some great smokes at both places. At Jack Schwartz I met Eric. What a great guy. I hope I am able to return to Chicago one day. I really love that city.

I am currently in Chicago visiting. I made it to Iwan Reis and Hubbard. I was very, very, very, impressed with Iwan Reis. Tomorrow morning I am going to Jack Shwartz (hope I spelled that right). I walked around town smoking a Davidoff Short Perfecto with no trouble. I was not impressed with the...
