Give this a try: Mix 1 cup brown sugar with soy sauce til well moistened, slather the mix on your venison and marinate an hour or so. Wrap with bacon, and place on a broiler pan into a preheated 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes. (depending on the size/cut and desired doneness)

To clean my meer, I bend a pipe cleaner into a loop for the bowl, and then run one (carefully) through the stem. I also use a paper towel in it after every few bowls.

I actually prefer my meerschaum to my briars, and I don't find it to be high-maintenance at all. In fact it's much more 'forgiving' as it always smokes cool and even, so I don't have to pay as much attention as I do when smoking the briar pipes.

Wow. I watched "Brace for Impact" on TLC the other night, and it was really enlightening to hear Capt. Sullenberger run through the events of the flight in real time while following the flight path of the plane, and to get the perspective of the air traffic controller as well.
