I had a bottle of the first release with a couple of years on it, and it seemed worse for the wear. I don't think there is enough alcohol there. Also it's not bottle conditioned. I'm not a big fan, so YMMV.
I had a year old Bell's Expedition last night that was just stellar. Rich, creamy and smooth. That's the first time I've had one with any age on it. I'll definitely be cellarring a few from this year's batch.
Nice score. Unfortunately, I've never had any of the Russian River IPAs.
I saw the Mikkeller Black in the store the other day, but couldn't pull the trigger on a $17 pint!
I had a good beer weekend. Friday night, I enjoyed a bottle of Deschutes Black Butte XX (Thanks Jonas!). Good beer, but I like the Abyss more.
Saturday night my brother brought over his bottle of Firestone Walker 10, and I cracked the 11 for a little vertical tasting.
I think the 10 had faded a...
I've been back and forth on Southern Tier, but I do like that they try some unique stuff. I really liked the Creme Brulee, but I like sweet stouts. It went great with a RyJ Churchill. I also really liked the Pumpking. I found the Oat kind of harsh. The Cherry Saison was alright, I didn't get...
I went a couple of years ago, and we had lunch at Phantom Canyon. I thought the food and the beer were pretty good. If he's looking to bring beer back, he should check out Coaltrain Liquors.
I've had a couple of bottles, but couldn't find any notes or reviews. It's fairly hoppy for a Belgian style (they use American hops), but still has some of that spice and fruitiness from the yeast. It's worth a try. I get together with a few guys every month, and we each bring a bottle of...
Sorry no pictures. Kansas recently started getting Nogne O, Haandbryggeriet, Mikkeller, and a bunch of other expensive beers that I can't pronounce. I'd recommend it for all the RIS fans out there.
500ml bottle, Batch 90. Bottle conditioned. Served in a snifter. Poured a deep, opaque...
I'm back and forth on the 90 Minute. I got to drink some this week in Florida and really enjoyed it. But the last time I brought some home from a trip, I found it a little lacking in hops, much more to the malty side. I drank a six of 60 Minute that I picked up in the spring, I almost thought...
I drank one on Friday watching my Jayhawk lose a heartbreaker. Great aroma, the flavor was nice too. I'd recommend it, if you're a fan of pumpkin brews. Here was my review:
22oz bomber served in a chalice. Copper colored pour with a quickly dissipating head. Fantastic aroma of pumpkin pie...
