I picked a really nice new Mastro de Paja bent sandblast for a really good buy on ebay. It feels nice in the hand- big, but not giant. Its my first Mastro de Paja, I'm impressed so far, but I still need to break it in a bit.
For tobacco, I picked up some McClelland Bombay Extra and McClelland...
Hey there, welcome to the wonderful world of pipe smoking! I am also a newbie- have been a cigar smoker for years, but always was enchanted by the pipe. I actually smoke my pipes more then cigars now. Anyway, welcome!
Somehow I always hit it the day after- wow, these things go fast! That Stubby Smooth Poker is looking mighty tempting...hmmmmm...let's see how much do I owe on my Visa now :whistling:
Hey Bob!!
I am a bit of a newbie with the pipe too. I think the past month or so I am finally "getting it". But as they say, its a life long learning process with everything. Have you received your Boswell yet? That was my first brier pipe (after my corn cob- still puff on it!). Let us know how...
Hey Jeff, welcome! I am a cigar smoker turned pipe smoker my self, don't get me wrong, I still smoker cigars! I have come to really love the pipe smoking world and community. It is a perfect mix of art and craftmanship with the pipes, to the blending of the tobaccos, and of course the social...
Unfortunately I haven't had the older version, but I just picked up a can of the new release. Being a new pipe smoker I have a limited knowledge for describing what I smoke (I'm working on it!). But I really found it to be a wonderful smoke, in fact I am going to have a bowl later this evening...
Thanks Alan, I was wondering if that was the Latakia. So I guess I am a Latakia lover then! :whistling:
I'm learning, with a little (a lot!) of help from you guys of course!

I just ordered a tin of Odyssey and smoked my first bowl yesterday! Being a newbie pipe smoker, this was my first G.L. Pease tobacco and if this blend is anything like his other blends, quality wise, I will have to check out his others. Being a new pipe smoker I am not a good reviewer, don't...
Happy Easter gang!
Today in Maryland we had some sun, a bit breezy and cool, but the sky was blue. I decided to break the pipe out with the family and start a tradition of being the "uncle who always smoked a pipe" at family functions. So today I smoked a bowl of Mac Baren Mixture (Scottish...
Hello fellow pipers! I was at Target today and saw they had 4 packs of Ball canning jars, but they are the regular classic size jars. One size is about half the size of the regular jars (1 pint). The other size are even smaller at 8 ounces. Does anyone use these smaller jars? The 8 ounce jars...
Wow! Jumbo it is! In the one pic it looks like a normal size pipe, but then you see the pipe in hand and the size really shows. Makes my Boswell Classic look like a mini pipe! LOL!
Hey Mark, I'll be interested in reading any responses too. The whole idea of being able to buy sealed tins/cans of tobacco and "cellering" interests me. Especially since one can buy a tin of tobacco for under $10. It makes it really possible to attain a nice collection without spending too much...
