Astros needed to wrap it up last night, JV can't do it all himself. Tonight will be interesting.
Whatever the end result is, in my 43+ years of being an Astros fan, this was the best year ever. I think they'll be a force to be reckoned with for quite some time and I'm looking forward to that.
""The umps gave (still give) JV a strike zone the size of the Grand Canyon."
CM79, if I were a Yankees fan, I probably would have smashed the television today. It sure seemed to me that some balls were called strikes.
JV hasn't lost a came since becoming an Astro including three post-season...

I never really watched him until he was an Astro and I gotta say, I did notice that............
LOL!
I wasn't a big fan of JV when he was with the Tigers but ya gotta admit, he's a pretty darn good pitcher and most teams would be glad to have him.
Since the Astros are new to the AL West, I'm basically indifferent to the other teams in the division because I really don't know much about...
WOW, that's really cool! Yes, I remember when he managed the Astros back in the early 80's when they made the playoffs for the first time in 1980 and again in the split season strike year in 1991.
I did not know he broke in with the Cardinals. Now that the Astros are out of the NL Central, I...
That's key. I'm pretty good at not eating lots of sugar and junk but I don't exercise enough. I have a fairly physical part-time job which helps but it's not enough.:(
Group: Off With Their Heads
Album: Home
Song: Seek Advice Elsewhere
Punk band out of Minnesota originally, now from California. First saw them warming up for the Street Dogs back in 2010 or 2011. They caught my attention because the lead singer wrote a song called "Eyes of Death" about his...
That it is and same with me on the second part, I pretty much only watch baseball.
Carlos Corera returned today, Lance McCullers will be back this week and the Astros just swept a three game series from the Mets today. Prior to this, it was looking iffy for the Astros to finish with the best...
LOL! I was happy for the Cardinals when the won the big one in 2006. The general consensus was the Tigers were going to win it in four or five....NOT! Verlander had two losses, game 1 and game 4, didn't he? That was a pretty darn good Cardinals team that year and being an NL fan, I was...
Hey, at least the Mets have won two World series since they both joined the league in 1962, the Astros have only been to one and didn't win a game, shutout by George's White Sox in 2005, 4-0.
I don't get all down and out with them or any team I root for just because they don't win the...
I sure hope so but Keuchel doesn't seem quite the same since he's come back from that pinched nerve problem. I remember pretty much always fearing Verlander whenever the Astros played the Tigers. He may not be as great as he was a few years ago but he's still a force to be reckoned with...
I agree. They made it a condition of approving Drayton McLane selling the team which to me is BS. Something to do with the owner of the Brewers wanting the Brewers to be in the National League and when that happened, the NL Central had too many teams setting up forcing the Astros to be shoved...
WOW! The Houston Astros acquired Detroit's starting pitcher Justin Verlander on August 31, less than an hour before the deadline to be able to pitch for the Astros in the post season.
For me as an Astros fan for the past 44 years, this is huge!
Verlander has been with the Tigers for all of...
Wow, very cool! I thought the cost would be outrageous but it sounds like a very affordable trip. Thanks for sharing the experience.
I'd ask some questions but I highly doubt I would ever go so I'll just sit back, watch this thread and dream.......
I've never really traveled far for...
