would you pay over msrp on aged cigars? Say some special cigars with 4 years of age on them? Just curious to see what kind of value other members put on age.

I'd pay a little more for age. I don't think I'd pay double MSRP when I could get younger cigars that are still great, but maybe up to 1.5x MSRP. .02

It's all a matter of what the value is to you and what you can personally say you are comfortable parting with. We are talking ISOM right? Any NC's, I'd rather buy them and age them myself. I'm disciplined that way. :sign:

It truly does depend on which cigar you're interested in, and its availability. Age does increase value somewhat - and certain years are more desireable than others. Aged cigars really are limited in quantity. And as each year passes that pool decreases.

Limited production - limited release cigars also factors in some value...

Ultimately, though - it really is subjective. Just how much are you willing to pay for the pleasure of trying something that is old!!! ;)

I don’t think I’d pay to much more, I’ve dealt with several vendors who have and aged list for those who ask and they charge the same rate. When I asked why they replied its service they like to provide for there customers. That set a standard in my mind as far as vendors go.

I would think that it would depend a lot on what cigar we would be talking about. I think if my willingness to posses a cigar is equal to my willingness to get that cigar. As a collector, who likes to sample his collection, I can think of several aged cigars that I would pay top dollar to get. Provenance plays a role as well.

I have no problem paying more than MSRP and do so frequently.
What's my option - pay MSRP and wait 8 years, rather buy 8 year old sticks?

Buying aged cigars is worth a premium, but you don't get into "doubling the MSRP" until they are very deeply aged.

One caveat to keep in mind is that if even for a few weeks of the lifetime of these cigars they were store improperly, then they won't be worth it IMHO. It is thus very important to know the person or place you are buying them from.

1) I would pay more for an aged cigar, especially if I knew the circumstances.

2) You guys refer to MSRP as if it were a standard number. I am confused

MSRP on a given cigar can fluxuate wildly depending on where and when you buy it, right? And who ever pays MSRP for anything?

A very important point and one I believe is over looked too often. If you're gonna buy an aged box, TRUST YOUR SOURCE. Be it a vendor, or a person. Storage is critical in how aged cigars taste.

It's a tough question. It depends on the cigar for me. Some smokes are great out of the box and I'd actually pay less for age. My Tres Mytiques for example, are great right now fresh from the box. I can't imagine aging them and then those getting better really. As to others, like ones from that ISOM, I'd pay more since most of those are young. But, then again it also depends on which one. Bottom line answer, and although frustrating, is that is "depends".
