I've been smoking cigars for a long time, but I was all on my own; ordering boxes of my favorites.
I never read the rags or anything until about a year ago. Then I discovered Pepin blends, and immediately became a fan. I have noticed that some of them change character rather quickly. My guess is he is using relatively young tobacco. Anyway, I'm looking for some inputs on how any of his blends age.
Any related input would be appreciated. Thanks! I wanted to clarify.
Tell me which ones keep their chincales character the most, lose it, get more peppery, get spicier, get bland, Storage Tricks, anything and everything is acceptable. The answer that rocks my socks by 03-08-08 gets any one single following cigar from my collection.

Opus X (various)
Pepin Blue Generosos
Tatuaje Regios, Noella, RC-184, Cazadores
Tatuaje Cojonu (impetus of this thread..flavor bomb no more)
Coronado by LFD Dbl Corona and Especiales (Dbl Corona have a year on them. Real peppery!)
LFD Chisel Oscuro
Ashton VSG
Padron 64 & 26
Vegas Cubanas Magantes and Corona
Rey Miguel Robusto
Cabaiguan Robustos Extra
Don Carlos Robusto
Padilla Miami Corona & Belicoso
Padilla 1932 Lancero and Corona Gorda

Way to go Boonedoggle

If you are intending to age Pepin blends, you might want to do a quick search regarding humidity. There have been postings in the past about keeping a lower humidity due to the delicate wrappers on some of his sticks.

I prefer the JJ's and 601 Habanos fresh. My favorite Pepin is the Tatuaje Regios with 6 months or more in the coolidor. I also enjoy them fresh, but after some time down they develop a creamy characteristic that I'm very fond of.

I have a few Cuban Classic (Black Label) Petite Lancero 1977 that are six months old.
They are smoking great, but then again they were really great fresh also.

Do a search on the Wine House Pepins, those were some of the first Pepin signature cigars from tropical (go ahead and shoot me if I'm wrong). Those were tasty and had a couple of years on them when they were bought. I really wish I had a few more left but those were some of the best Pepin cigars I've had.

I've got to agree with Rob on this one. I only had the maduro ones (I think there were naturals too?), but they were great. Nice and creamy wish some sweetness and nuttiness. They lacked the spice you get from a lot of Pepins, which to me I enjoyed. I wish I had some left.

Gonna be hard trying to find some though.

DPs are great! Once I aged one for like 3 days, but that was all I could wait!

Really, my two favorties are the JJ Nats and the Blue Invictos. I originally did not like the JJs, and I really loved the Blue, but after just 2 months in the humi, the JJs developed a very mellow taste at the front, then settled back into rich buttery toast flavors that I didn't notice right out of the box. The Blue are really good out of the box, but I don't find they've changed much in the same amount of time. :)

Well, for the most part they haven't been around long enough to really say what will happen with some deep aging. The oldest ones are what, like five/six years old? Correct me if I'm wrong. The Tatuajes and Don Pepin brands are my favorites and it will be another five years until we really know what the potential is. I would personally choose The stronger Tatuajes such as the Cojonu's and the Don Pepin JJ's. I also love the Tatuaje RC184's and would suggest those. The custom rolled cigars would be another good choice. Only time will tell.

Boonedoggle is the winner. Gave me a chuckle, and some solid feedback on the quality of the smoke after some age. Thanks guys!
