Am I getting hosed?

At 70,xxx is he going to replace all belts. Labor on timing belts is fairly extensive?

A timing belt job is $500 by itself, so he's probably not messing with that.

He could be changing the igniter in the distributor. That could cost a bit for the part. If he's an honest mechanic, he can provide receipts for the parts.

He could get a distributor at a junkyard for $50 and you'll never know.

Around here a 2 mile tow is $50, if you know the right guys.

Here's the update:

tow: $75
labor: 3hrs $195
air filter: $14.65
fuel filter: $55.10
plugs: $17.32
ignition rotor: $5.34
distibutor cap: $64.87
wire set: $94.02

with almost $45 in tax it came to $563.66
The price breakdown put things in a little bit of perspective... like how much a mechanic can make in three hours.
Thanks for everyone's input.

I'm sure the book says 3hrs for a tune-up, but I bet he'll do it in under an hour. That's not hosing you, though. If he messes up and it takes him four, then he's still only going to get 3 hours worth of work. It's all in the book. :)

I hate this shit when they fucking DOUBLE the cost of the parts. As I mentioned earlier, I can get the cap (without a shop discount) for $35.00 and the wires for $65.00 and the spark plugs for less than $10.00. For some reason, he forgot to double the cost of the rotor. While I didn't price the air and fuel filters, it looks like he porked you on those too.

Three hours for labor is pure, unadulterated bullshit as well, even if that prick took his sweet-assed time, that work can be done in less than an hour.

I figured as much. Those prices seemed steep for parts. What burns my ass the most is I was getting a nice bonus check this friday and was going to buy a few boxes of smokes, and now it looks like I might not be able to treat myself as richly as I would have liked.
