Another bettle outbreak in an 06 box

fwiw-

we have discovered from hands on experimenting that our restaurant freezer which holds at about 22 degrees was sufficiently cold to kill a beetle outbreak in a bundle of cigars brought directly to us from pinar del rio.

after 48 hrs in the freezer, then 48 hrs in the beer fridge, then 24 hrs in the food fridge. we stored the cigars in a dispensible desk top humi in my office. we run a/c in the office, but not 24/7. here in the tropics it can get as high as 94/95 in the winter.

it has been 2 months and i am happy to say that despite the initial infestation, we have seen no sign of any beetle activity.

perhaps, due to their existence in the tropics, tobacco beetles do not necessarily posses the evolutionary imperative to survive below freezing temperatures.

cheers
