I'm still a newbie here on cigars and what not, so since using my Zippo isn't really a good idea to light up a cigar (because of the fluid taste/aroma), can I just go to say HomeDepot (I have a giftcard there) and purchase any butane torch that will be convenient enough for me to carry in my pockets? Or is that a bad idea for some reason?

I guess it could work. From what I understand, there is an insert that you can buy for a Zippo and it will turn it into a torch or just bite the bullet and get yourself a nice torch.

Lighters seem to be a hit and miss item. Some people have good luck with some and some have bad luck with others.

A popular choice is the Blazer or Prometheus look-a-like. Good torch, long lasting between refills.

Torch lighters work very well, but a .99 butane lighter from 7/11 works well too. The idea is that if the fuel has an odor, the odor can affect the taste of the cigar. If you really want to "get into into this hobby" stick to a budget, don't spend your money on expensive accsesories, spend it on cigars.

I understand, that's how I want to take things, spend on cigars. So what makes an ebay torch for $10 differ from something like a more expensive Blazer? Will I notice the difference? Is it more efficient? Is it just the name? Is quality actually that noticable? Sorry for all the questions.

Use a Zippo if you have it! :)

Best damn lighter to use while fishing period!

Get over the 30 second "fluid" taste and get a good light each and every time you strike the flint!!!

A really good budget conscious yet presentable lighter are the lower end Lotus lighters. Elighters.com has them as should one of your local tobacco shops.

Have lighter's in all price ranges and all work becouse of using good fuel like Vector becouse of it being 5x's refined. Also after a couple of refils I use compressed air to clean the Jets in the torch lighters and also the the flint ones as well. It is also a good idea to bleed out the lighter every couple of refills to get out the air that can sometimes leak in after refilling. just some tips that I use.

While this will work there are better solutions as have been mentioned.

I recently bought a few lighters from this place to have a few extras around.
I'm in the spend your money where it counts, on cigars, category right now.
