I keep saving them. I don't know why.

It's like I think I'm going to come up with some kind of brilliant use for them one day.

Yeah, right.

Add about 3 more boxes, 2 Scotch bottle tubes and 3 1 liter beer mugs full... and yeah I have the same problem as you. :p

I don't save the cedar rings though.

I have the same problem - but I don't have a box I put them in.. they just end up in pockets, on the desk, under a sock, and in all sorts of other places.

Geoff (StinkiMonki) has a cool way of keeping the bands. He has a book (as I'm sure a lot of other guys here do) which lets you paste the band and put comments about the cigar. That way you can go back and see how your taste perceptions of cigars change, and what you may have thought about a cigar you tried a while ago but have since forgotten. You might look into a method such as that for putting your band-collecting habit to better use.

Go to the local hobby/crafts shop get some styrofoam balls, glue and brush and make Christmas Ornaments for the tree.

I use the labels to make posters/mosaics.

I'd be happy to take anyones bands off their hands, just pm me.

Just 'un-glue' them, they will need less place and You will fit more in that box... :whistling:

I saw this in a cigar lounge and I'm doing one for my smoking room (which is still being remodeled). They took a huge smooth glass vase and put it in the lounge for people to throw bands into. It's very attractive when it is full, lots of color and different bands. I believe when they fill them they auction them off for charity. I went to Michaels and found what I think is the exact same vase they use. It was 9.99, and you can get a 40 to 50% off coupon for Michaels in just about every Sunday papaer. Mines about half full and is looking really cool. I like it because it is just full of stuff that I have smoked.

My wifes away with the digital camera, I'll post pics later.

I know tkoepp buys smooth glass ashtrays and glues the bands to them and then puts on a felt backing. They look incredible. I think he has pics in his profile of them.

Someone posted a picture in the last year or two of their collection of old cigar butts - now that's when you really have issues...

I recently had a local artist decoupage a fold down wood control panel that was covered in a faux formica(approx3x1) on my boat. I iwll try and take and post a picture next time I go down to the boat. I also have a guy who is going to build me a custom fishing rod which will be wrapped with some of my most prized bands. Also, thinking of other ideas anytime I look around and see something blah and bland.....ahhh bachlerhood is grand.

I can't remember who did this, but someone used them to cover his Otterbox. I collect them and I'm planning on making a mosaic out of my first year's cigar bands.

I've been saving bands for years. I have a small photo album that I have a couple hundred in, all different and many from the boom years. I also have a spitoon (sp) that I just throw "good" bands into. One day I would like to make a colage to put on top of my Aristocrat.

Save the cedar to use to light your cigars. If you're using the arcane method of a lighter, you're ruining the flavors and you're not being nearly enough snobbish to be included in this bunch of poofters. :)
