Hey all, I'm new here and a fast learning newbie to the cigar world.

Of all the cigars I've seen on here, I have not come accross anyone talking about an "F2" cigar. It is from Oakbrook Tobacco (www.oakbrooktobacco.com)and was blended by a guy named Fanning. Howard House does the distribution. Someone turned me on to it and thus far it is my favorite. The only other cigars that even come close to it have been a Cohiba XV Maduro or "The Edge" maduro by Rocky Patel. I have tried about 30 different cigars recently and still I haven't found it's equal.

The F2 is a Maduro 6 1/2 x 43 and is very very nice. As far as I know, you can only find them online but they are so good I'm suprised I haven't heard anyone talking about them.

Please comment. Talk amongst yourselves. Resist your urge to bag on the new guy. ;)

I have paired it with snifters of Makers Mark, Navan, Christian Bros. and even a good red wine. Good times.

If you have never tried these, I would definately recommend them. They sell for about $52 per dozen.

Howdy. Haven't heard of them before.

It would probably be a good idea to introduce yourself in the "Introduce Yourself Here" room, and then spend some time reading and posting on some other threads before you start suggesting unknown brands to people.

I'm not saying that you're shilling, but folks hereabouts are (rightfully) sensitive to strangers trying to get them to purchase something we've never heard of, from a place that I doubt many have heard of either.

As an aside, I looked at the Oakbrook site, and thepassage that says "Senor Carbonell is considered world wide the most knowledgeable person alive when it comes to seed and seed development," made me squirm a little bit. I realize that it's marketing copy, but still...

Anyway, poke around, get to know people here, and then maybe make some suggestions would be my recommendation. That recommendation is worth exactly what you paid for it though. :)

As someone in marketing I can't believe they missed out on the opportunity to use words such as; "foremost" and "leading expert". If they really wanted to drop a bomb on us... "Senor Carbonell is widely considered world's foremost leading expert and the most knowledgeable person alive when it comes to seed and seed development. Even God can not compete with his vastly superior knowledge".

Hey again, appologize for my noobness, never even thought of offending anyone, just wondered why such a good cigar (IMO) seems like it's hidden from the world that's all. As for the stuffiness of them...yeah they did seem a bit stuffy over the phone now that you mention it. God help me to never be a grumpy old man. But dang do those grumps have a good cigar.

Careful there noob, there's gumpy old men around here, or so I've been told ;)

Doc.

Years ago I worked for a company that had a sales office in Naperville, IL. the city next to Oakbrook. I stumbled across the Oakbrook shop one weekend when I had to go in early for a quarterly sales meeting. The Oakbrook shop is in the Oakbrook Mall and their big claim to fame at least back then (and I am talking 20 years ago) was that they hand rolled cigars for Senator Tip O'Neal, Coach Mike Ditka and some other celebrities. I bought a couple of their hand rolled cigars and eventually got onto a mailing program where they sent me a bundle of cigars every other month. That was many moons ago but the one fond memory I did have of their shop was the tabacco aroma that wafted into the mall.

Looks like an interesting smoke I would be interested at least doing a taste testing.

OK, to their defense, I placed an order with Oakbrook few days ago and the guy on the phone was very friendly and very helpful.

*Updated* my $100+ order arrived with beetle damage and they are sending me a full replacement @ no charge. I would have to say so far it has been excellent cust service.
