If CP launched a Cigar Lotto would you be interested? Of course it would be free to join. All you would have to do is send out a few cigars to the winner.

I think it causes more problems than it is worth. Most everyone sends their end but once in a while they don't and that's when the fireworks start. IMHO it's a no win situation at best and an ugly proposition at worst. YMMV

So when do I get to pick my numbers?

Depends what the winnings would be. I would participate either way, but I have seen a couple lottos that were for high end/isoms, which may scare some folks off.

Sure...As long as the drama was kept to a minimum.

That's when hell freezes over and me and neal start selling snow cones! :sign:

Seriously though, there would have to be some pretty nice guidelines that I think a few other pools are missing, but I'd go for two numbers.

I think the deal is that nonsending of winnings disqualifies you from the next drawing.

You'd need someone in charge that was really on top of it like lucasbuck does with the NSTT. It's a thankless job.

I think being over a certain timeframe late should result in suspension/banning. Of course then there are special circumstances, yadda yadda yadda

No not worth it IMO, but if someone is willing to step up then worth a try.

Not only are there those that "forget", or are too busy to send their winnings, but lottos also seem nice for drawing out the slackers, cheats, frauds and the like if it's not well run. On the plus side - the winner usually does get a nice pile of smokes!!!

We've done 'em before and they turn out to be a hassle. Just ask SD_Stack and BigSlimJunior.

Oh yeah, they're gone..........

The last thing these guys did was run lottos. Tell ya something?

I would not be interested. You want a low-end one, just sign up at CigarPool and let Michael Cook deal with all the headaches. You want a high end one, then go make Lee's life miserable

This is one of those cases of a good idea that's very difficult make an effective realization.

To avoid hassles it would have to be a small group of "approved" people that would almost make it too small to be of interest.

To be of interest it would have to be a fairly large group which would almost definitely result in MAJOR hassles.

A few of us are in the low end "cigarpool" which I think is less of a worry, at least for me, because there are not many personal ties to those involved. So when others slack, it's not really something I worry about because it's someone else's headache.

Whereas here, we try to maintain a good community so when someone fell behind on their obligations, we would have a KB(sorry bro, but most recent case) type incident.

For these reasons, I vote "no".

I,m thinking that if the cigars were all sent to one place befor the lotto happened that would be fine.I'm thinking of say three sticks per drawing ticket. Two of the sticks would be for the actual pool. Than the other sticks remaining would carry over to the next drawing making the next even bigger. If there is no winner the first drawing, than all sticks carry over. Than you have to buy in as usual for the next drawing. I'm also thinking that a small percentage of the sticks could also go to the person running this thing for their effort and hard work. I think sending first would weed out the scum bags that wont send their end, or would just send dog rockets. Maybe say also a limit to the entrants, say like it could be 25 max botls sotls. If there were more interested a second pool could be taken over by another lotto official. If all went well this could be a huge pay out to some lucky person. Any way this is just my two cents good luck with this. Talk to you later.

NO!!!! And pay for shipping TWICE? Talk about "Hassle" you wanna volunteer to receive 100 boxes of cigars, open them all up, store them in your humi (ya better buy a cooler and make a coolerdor) THEN package up 200 to 300 cigars AND BE RESPONSIBLE for all those cigars? Ya got any idea wht the shiping on that one box would cost? (My guess is $20.00 depending on where is the country you live and where the winner lives, I sure hope Swifty or wkmang don't win).

Even if you limited it to 25 boxes of cigars, that's still an awfully big "hassle." Oh and what if you or whoever it is decided to pull a disappearing act or "slack"? :0

Sorry Ron and no offense but it's a horrible idea and that set up is more unattrative that the original idea.

Well... I was in Fast4dr's High Roller Lottery (6-7) and really enjoyed it (despite not winning). Yes, it can be a real headache and some drama, but it can also be fun and exciting. With some good ground rules that everyone knows and agrees to prior to launch I think it could be handled with a minimum of hassle. After all, despite recent events, I still like to think that CPers are essentially good people until they prove themselves otherwise. If I was given administration these are some of the rules I would like to see:

- Three levels. People can participate in only one level per month. 10 people max per level (30 people per month.) Yard Gar Lotto ($1-5 per stick MSRP) Premium Lotto ($5-10 per stick MSRP) and High Roller Lotto ($10+ per stick MSRP).

- Numbers are randomly selected every month for the first ten entrants to each level.

- Winners are disqualified for 1 month to "spread the wealth."

- Participants must opt in with their intended "bid" (a virtual send) The admin adds them to the list if their sticks meet the requirements. Upon winning, the winner will then have a list of sticks to expect.

- Non-winners must send the goods within one week of contest end. Extreme Circumstances, if PMed to admin, can be given a 1-3 week extension by the admin, who will notify the winner to expect a late response.

- People who don't send their "bid" are disqualified from further entry for 1 year. (Make sure you have what you bid before bidding and don't smoke it in the mean time.)

- People who are late sending their part are restricted from entry for 1 month per week of unauthorized delay.

- People who renig are disqualified permanantly.

Example - I want to enter the August Premium Lotto. I send admin that I intend to sned off a LFD DL Chisel and VRF to the winner. S/he says ok and adds me to the list. When all ten people are chosen, numbers are issued at random and I get 4. The chosen lotto is 389 so 9 wins. I lose. During the drawing I am in Korea on military deployment. I pm the Admin to tell them that I get home in 5 days and the package will go out when I return, which s/he PMs to the winner. I send out the package and PM/Post such to the winner. They confirm receipt in the thread or by PM to admin that they received "1 LFD DL Chisel and 1 VRF" and that "Treamayne" made his bid. For September I can opt in again, and the August winner must wait until October to participate again.

I really have to put my foot down on this one and say no. While I think it could work here, in the long run I think it would hurt the comunity of CP. There would be an influx of people and the problems this brings. I am not against new guys here. But the scammers and bulletin board "thugs" this could bring in out weighs the benefits.
Plus the lottos we had have worked then fizzled. Not worth the added risk in my opinion.

I don't recall voting but for some reason it says that I already did.

My vote anyway, No. I will have to totally agree with Emo's thougts about this.
