As an update: We just came back from the hospital this evening and my son is now off a ventilator (was extubated the other day, but remained on CPAP until this afternoon). No more tubes all in/ covering his face! Plus, he's off the bili lights so his eyes are uncovered as well. We were able to see his face for the first time this evening and he is beautiful.
Plus, we were able to hold him for the first time as well, which was very special too.
Everything is really looking up for him and he may go to a step-down unit later tonight or tomorrow! Then hopefully home soon.
