Hey Denver area. The local blood centers haven't had donations for a couple of days. If you can, they could use yours.

if you gimme a day or so i will bleed out my neighbors and send you the blood....

Huh?

LOL, my neighbors are a few kids that missed out on being extra's for 2 fast 2 furious, so they make up for it by revving their engines at 2-4 am and racing down the street like a couple of assclowns. they are in the Mood for giving blood.... with a little help

Great post, mmburtch. Blood centers everywhere could use the assist. It doesn't take long and can save a life.

Perhaps sometime next year we could have a CigarPass blood drive. Just imagine all the fortunate folks walking around with fine Nicaraguan, Dominican, or Honduran nicotine in their systems. :D

I just donated platlets on Tuesday!! Holy shnikies!! They draw the blood, run through a centrifuge, seperate the platlets, add some anti-coagulant, and put the now room temp blood back into ya!!

It like instant air conditioning!! I had to have three blankets on me because the cool blood being pumped back made my veins contract. I looked like a pile of laudry under all the blankets. I'm going to save donating platlets for summer time

The plus is that you can donate platlets every two weeks as opposed to eight weeks for blood. I'm starting to look like a heroin addict......

Very nice, Quade. I've been doing apheresis for years. Takes a little longer than a regular blood donation, but I enjoy it more. I usually bring a book, get under the warming blanket and snack on Tums and trail mix for an hour and a half. All for a good cause. It would be nice as hell if I could smoke a cigar at the same time -- I'd donate more often!

Just a funny story to share with you folks: When stationed at a Naval Hosp. or BAS, we were often offered the day off if we would volunteer to give a pint. The problem was, you'd spend your whole watch standing in line waiting to give. ;)

Doc.

That's a great way to go if you have the time...

I used to donate platlets every all the time at the Blood Bank here; they'd throw in a movie and I'd lay back and enjoy it......

Then MAD COW hit the scene and since I spent nearly the entire '90s decade in Germany, I'm forever banned by the RED CROSS because they have no way to check your blood for that...

But for those who can donate, it's a great thing to do....regularly. GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE...

I'm more'n half through a year's hiatus because of some ink I got last May. Look forward to donating again in the spring...
