There's just some times where the forces of evil appear to be aligned against you!

After a long night on call and 3 deliveries, my wife was headed home and blew out a tire at fricken 4am! Luckily she was only about a mile from our house so I was able to quick come get her and take over replacing the tire. But get this: When I get the tire (all 4) replaced the guy working on it brings out a 3-4" piece of broken brake pad that she apparently ran over with the front tire, spun up on end and punctured/entered the rear tire!

So I've got 4 great new tires on the car now, but no cigar budget this month :(

Well, at least your wife's ok Andy.

I'm sure you have a few smokes to tide you over. If not, you know where your brothers are.

Damn man. Sounds like one hell of a bad situation. I'm VERY glad she's okay, hopefully it doesnt set you guys back too much dough.

As long as the wife is o.k. everything is looking great. I'd hate to have to have to take care of the kids by myself.

Must be something in the air. My wife just popped a tire last week. We took it to America's Tire Company where it was purchased, and they gave us a new tire free of charge since we were under warranty with them. Whew, we averted paying a couple hundred dollars right there!

Why did you have to replace all four when only one went flat? ???

All four were due to be replaced soon anyways, most likely this fall. They were the original tires and we had 41,000 miles on them, so I guess we got our money's worth.

edited to add: And luckily it was a rear tire that blew, so she didn't have to fight too bad to control the vehicle.

Yikes, sorry to hear about this, Andy. You're right. It could have been worse had it been a front tire.

My only blowout was when my passenger-front ran over a piece of 4x4 lumber on the highway at 75MPH. Bent a control arm, blew the tire, bent and broke the rim but I was able to maintain control. Gotta love the Subaru AWD.

I am so glad that everyone made it through without injury.

This reminds me of a story that happened over here on my second day in Iraq. We were doing our transitions from the out going unit to the my unit. I was driving down on of the main roads here in the "IZ" (international zone) when in front of us a mini van blew the driver side front tire. There was no door on the driver side and the lose of control sent the mini into the guard rail. The driver, a Green Beret, was thrown from the mini and fell under the van and was run over by it. It was a horrible bloody mess, but he made it through with just minor injuries. IF my Hum-V had been any closer we would have hit him I am sure. But he was treated at the scene and picked up by one of his buddies and they left.....so all in all, it was not near as bad as it looked....

Enough of me rambling, and sorry about the possible thread jack

Tim
