You make vague references in the title of the thread so that the reader doesn't know what you're writing about, then you force anyone interested into clicking a link.

Sorry, you already pretty much forced everyone "into" your thread and with that, you should expect comments especially when you start threads like this.

I "don't care" as I would guess a significant majority of active people here don't either.

If Britney Spears is in the title it pretty much means its going to be a thread about her. Nothing vague about that.

But it is still fun to poke fun at her when she is down!

I disagree. I think it's just as tacky as anything any celebrity does. The fact that these people are rich and famous does not make "kicking them when they're down" fair game to me.

She's made mistakes. She likely wasn't ready to deal with her fortune. She obviously has problems galore. There's nothing fun about beating up on her to me, public figure or not.

Just my opinion...

I agree with your premise Alan, but disagree in the application. I would be surprised if Spears was down at all. I feel no sympathy for her at all. She can go to rehab for her behavior, but stupid is permanent.

It seems the interest in this thread may have been underestimated.

I guess we'll agree to disagree. I take no joy in beating up on any person when they are obviously going through something like this. She is showing all the signs of a person struggling with some sort of disorder. A disorder that runs far deeper than "stupid". (An affliction with which she is also likely cursed.) I see nothing "fun" about beating up on any person who is going through a divorce/custody battle (involving 2 infants) whether they are famous or not.

I wasn't taking issue with people criticizing her parenting or her choices. I was just saying that I don't think this is a situation that I am comfortable having "fun" with.

It's truly sad if you ask me. There are two very innocent lives in this situation that could be severely damaged by the time this all shakes out. There's nothing "fun" going on here.

She's 25, and had no real childhood because of her fame. She's doing what most normal teenagers do - from partying to doing stupid things for attention. She may not be the brightest (just do a search for her on YouTube for some true stupidity), but she's just going through a phase later than most, and in the public eye. The people that should be chastised are the idiots constantly following her and then shamelessly profiting off her 'escapades' (the salon that she shaved her head set up a website to sell her hair for a million bucks - that's the most disturbing thing about this particular incident). It's not like she's getting help from her family either. She'll either grow up, or crash and burn for real.

And CC's right - who care if she shaves her head, no less what ever else she does when she's not performing? Seriously. It's bad enough that "reality tv" has taken over this country, but to constantly make stories out of non-events just to kick them when they're down to sell stories is just sad. She hasn't lost anything - she never had it to begin with.

Well... I think the problem here is that no one ever took her seriously to begin with. It's the just sit there and amuse me syndrome. All I can say is that I hope she works her way back to human and trims off the FAT in her life.

That case really surprised me. I have always held astronauts in pretty high regard. They always seem like the best of the best. I guess it opens our eyes that no one is perfectly able to cope with the problems in their lives.

There are always going to be people with problems and the inability to deal with them in a non-destructive manner. It's sad, but I guess it is just part of life...


To clarify my previous post...I wasn't calling any person trash, I was calling the behavior trash. There's a difference.
