So i am finally going to be able to make it out to my local cigar shop. I have been waiting and saving a dollar here, a dollar there...

The reason this is important is because it will be my first time to visit since i joined CP! So far i have been pretty well sheltered from the buying a new humi every month group, but i have a bad feeling about this one!

Just so you know how far you guys have made me progress, last time i picked up a kuba kuba. Yeah i know...

I seem to remember the prices being outrageous last time i was there, so it may be a bust, but oh well.

But anyway, i am just plain excited so i will let you know what happens!

Well if you pick up another Kuba Kuba today then I'd have to say we failed.

Enjoy the day!

Ahhh I remember my first trip to a B&M, knowing very little myself... (not that I'm an expert now by no means) My head was almost spinning looking at all the different variations of cigars and price ranges. I not being a wealthy man purchased a few sticks that my cigar mentor advised me on, then took them home and stashed them in my first container with a hydro-pouch inside. And now I often remember what Jfields told me after bombing me- "Before long you'll have more cigars than you'll ever smoke." Enjoy your new hobby!

Enjoy yor trip, buy something you like and thats the whole point. Also try to talk to your Tobacconist when you are there so he can help you with your tasted face to face. Plus remember don't be shy or scared to ask questions and try new things.

Glad your day is going to be good.

I'm stuck in the library sucking down as much caffeine as my body can handle, while I work on a marketing plan for Oakley, Inc.

Don't final exams rule?! :(!

Well by local store kind of sucks. The people are nice and everything but the selection is just not there. They had two CAO cigars in the whole place! (was looking for some brazilia) There was one lady in there who did not know anything about the cigars, so that did not help either.

I ended up buying two Rocky Patel Edge Maduro torpedo

One cohiba black in a glass tube

A.F. Short Story

A.F. something with the same band but skinny and long.

I wanted to buy three of everything, but the prices seemed really high. All in all, not a bad trip so i can't complain.

edit: i just compared the prices with the ones online, they were about three dollars higher on everything.

Some pics....

Lol, my last exam for the semester is wed. I can't wait!

Well, since reading about cigar bid on here i decided to give it a go. I just won a fiver of Punch London Club Maduro for nine bucks. As much as i would love to support my local shop it is so much cheaper online.

So crap. Now i actually have to get a new humi:(

Prices at B and M's are traditionally higher...I'm going to hope that there are more options with the lack of expertise they provided.

Here in Houston we are blessed with several high end shops with staff who are knowledgeable. They made my transition into cigars MUCH easier and I'm sure, a hell of alot more enjoyable.

See if you can't find a good brick and mortar locally, CBid and online retailers are nice, but a good local store is worth it's weight in gold

Welcome to the club of buying humi after humi, everybody's advice here will be to buy the biggest you can afford because it will fill up quickly.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to the B&M... In my previous post I didn't want to go there about online buying, but it's definitely the cost effective route. As stated above, there's nothing like a good cigar lounge to buy a fine stick, have it cut and lit for you, and even enjoy a fine mohito or your favorite drink with it. I'd say myself that 99% of my purchases now come from Cbid. My personal experience with Thompson was negative, and have shut off all online emails from them... so even online be cautious-

Online is way cheaper but I agree if you find a B&M with some guys that know their stuff it makes all the difference.

I love going by stinks place on my way home and seeing Skisomalia and Sanchopanza.
I always end up hanging out and having a smoke and those guys always show me new stuff.

Have you looked into making coolerdor rather than buying an additional humi....

A wise sage once told me, regarding C-bid, "grasshopper, make sure to consider total transaction cost when making deal with devil".

Not many. I have not counted recently, but the problem lies in my 20 count humi. It is not filled up right now, but i have a lot more sticks coming my way for the holidays. I am looking at a 150-200 count right now.

Lol, agreed. Shipping was a little high. But once you factor in me driving somewhere etc, its worth it imo. Next time i will buy more than one thing to cut down on shipping.
