Cigar books

Being an avid reader, :love: I'm looking into getting some books about cigars. I guess my ultimate book would give a detailed history of brands, as well as provide in-depth information about the production of cigars. My brother in law has a great book by Gerard Pere called Cigars: The Art of Cigars by Flammarion Press. It's two smaller books running roughly ninety-four pages each in an attractive holder.

-What books if any would you recommend?

-Does anyone have the Idiot's guide to cigars? If so, what do you think about it?

-In regards to pocket-guides and books along that line, what have you found to be useful?

I was gifted a book sometime ago called "Havana cigars" by Girard Pere et Fils. It is a bit out dated {1995} so it does not have some of the newer Vitolas But still an informative read, and has some really nice pictures of every size in each line of cigar.

There is a great line in the book that I think sums up my view on cigars “Cigar smoking has become a true gourmet experience – that is, an experience of curiosity, education and contentment.”

I also have the "Cultivating a tradition of perfection" which is a HabanosSA publication.

Oh, and as I believe was pointed out in the thread that cvm referenced, get a subscription to the European Cigar Cult Journal I received my first copy a few weeks ago and enjoyed it immensely. (thanks Matt :thumbs: )
