Cigar Boom, again?

Did you people live through the same cigar boom as me. It was not a good time. Good cigars and tobacco were in short supply. Dog rockets sold for ridiculous prices. A Ct. wrapped AF Château Fuente became a rare cigar. You all better hope we don't have a boom like that one.
Doc.

Definitely agree Doc, for a couple of years there were bad smokes.

I think that they may be a little more prepared now considering the number is pretty close to 97' numbers and doesn't seem to be slowing down.

I've handed out 5 cigars just this weekend to my fellow friends who never smoke them. Since they found out my new hobby they ask to try some. Yesterday we loaded up some cold beer, few smokes, and went fishing. Good times!

I wasn't a cigar smoker during the cigar boom of the 90's, but I have read alot about the exact thing you're talking about. My biggest concern with the current 'boom' or 'revival' , in addition to pricing, would be the overall quality of the tobacco being produced. For the most part the quality seems pretty good right now, imo, but the idea of producing lesser quality tobacco in hopes of keeping up with ever increasing demand might be tempting for some producers.

In cali I have not seen a huge increase in cigar smokers. In the last 2 years I have seen 2 or 3 B&M's go out of business and 2 others decrease the number of brands they carry and started carry mostly low end dog rockets. The few remaining B&M's worth going to always seem to have Opus X's in stock as well as other high end cigars but that may be do to the high price tag they put on each $21 for a Opus X perf #2 and $16 for a perf #5. or if I want to drive further I can pay $28 for a Perf #2 and they have about 6 sizes of Opus in stock.
